Gostou: - Friendliness of site manager Rocky
- Flexibility in pitch arrangements. No strict rules on where we pitched up.
- Flexibility on duration. You come whenever you want on the day and leave at whatever time on the day you check out. Great when you have children!
- Old school nature of the camp. Reminded us of camping as kids.
- Being able to camp in an old railway station site. Unique and lots of character.
- Basic amenities. Washing up block and toilet / shower block are basic but do the job for outdoor camping. Loads of hot water.
- Friendliness of site owner who came and said hello to us.
- Refurb to site that has gone on over last 12 months. You can see the potential for this site due to the architectural interest.
- Lovely dog walk down the old train line. We caught grasshoppers, saw birds of prey and a host of wildlife.
- Dog friendly.
- Our little girl loved the makeshift swing in the tree.

Não gostou: - The site is clearly aimed for seasonal pitch holders rather than occasional. This was our first time camping and we came local to test the tent out. Seasonal camping isn't something we are familiar with and there is clearly a wonderful community that enjoy coming back to this site year after year and are good friends. This unfortunately has led to some poorly kept pitches, some which aesthetically are in need of renovation. It took away from the beauty of the site, however we recognised that these patrons are the main purpose of the business model, whereas we were only there for one night.

- Some seasonal residents gathered on the Saturday night playing music loudly until 10pm when they kindly turned it down at my request and turned it off at 10 30, but there was a lot of laughing and loud voices that went on until 3am in the morning. Again, we recognised we are not the target clientele but it meant our little girl (age 5) couldn't get to sleep till 5am and we were regularly woken by shouting and laughing which led to a poor night's sleep in what we thought would be a silent night away from the city. Hate being a killjoy but it didn't sell the peace and tranquility we thought we would get from the site.

We can confirm ladies toilets are a bit whiffy in the morning but are very clean. The site manager explained there is a plan to move the cess pit. It didn't bother us as it's all part of the experience but might be off putting for some people.

Gostou: Nice and quiet little site, Rocky the warden was friendly and helped me push my caravan onto the pitch. Let me know where everything was, toilets, waste water etc. Would definitely go back.

Gostou: Lovely site, greeted by the infamous "Rocky" who was so friendly and helpful. A laid back approach, with no set times to leave like every other site I have stayed at!
The above is possible by everybody keeping their pitch and surroundings clean and tidy, ready for the next visitors!
The facilities are great, and well kept!
We'll deffo be back!

Gostou: Rocky has to be one of the most amazing hosts we have ever come across! Nothing is too much trouble, and he likes to personally greet his guests on arrival, as well as say goodbye before you leave. We found the location for getting into York really great, as we simply drove to the local Park and Ride about 15 mins away (Grimston Bar). There are ample facilities on site, washing up, laundry, toilet and shower block. Plenty of space to play for the kids and a fairly good park.

It has a very relaxed atmosphere, and although you are welcome to come and go as you please, everyone is very respectful of the noise levels.

Although you may read some poor feedback and reviews, I think these are unfair considering how reasonably priced it is to stay here. Also, there has been quite a bit more work done since some of the photos that have been shared by other guests. For £30 per night (what we paid on a Bank Holiday weekend) you simply cannot complain!

Não gostou: There is an odd smell around the toilet block / showers. I actually think it may be the water itself as the amenities are very clean every day. Other than that, nothing to dislike.

Gostou: Showers and toilets were clean and well stocked. Laundry room with washing facilities very useful. Plenty of room for campervan with awning with electric hookup and water included.

Não gostou: Wasn’t sure who to check in with upon arrival. Asked another guest and the guy in charge came to the van and showed us the facilities and gave us the freedom to park where we wanted.

Gostou: We enjoyed staying at this site which we found very easily. The site is lovely and flat and sited on a pitch with a lovely view across fields. The toilet block and bins were nearby and everything was clean. We took our bikes and enjoyed long bike rides and were happy they were safe and secure at the end of the day parked next to our van. The guy who greeted us was very helpful and friendly.

Gostou: Plenty of room for caravan and awning. Park kept the kids occupied with the added extra of plenty of space for a kick about with football.

Gostou: View, nice dog walk where dogs can run free!
Rocky! Very helpful & informative. Will do anything for anybody!
People were friendly.
Everything you need, shower block, washing up & laundry area. Park for kids.
This place has great potential to be amazing and a lovely peaceful retreat!!

Não gostou: Ok, on arrival it looks run down and tatty. This is mainly due to the very old and neglected caravans that are obviously residents/long term or stored vans!
Give them a clean!! It will make a hell of a difference to the aesthetics of the site.
Nobody wants to see green falling apart caravans they make it look like a breakers yard.

Toilets smell foisty with a sewage smell, but are clean with a radio in the background. Showers although look dated are mira showers and the water was hot and nice new shower curtain. Could do with a little buffet or stool in there to sit on to get dressed.

Pitches aren’t fully serviced you need to go get your own water they are just electric.

It definitely needs work to bring it up to standard!
Having said all that we have been told improvements are being made and you can see where they have cleared parts for the hardstandings. They are relatively new owners and hopefully it gets the modernising this gem of a site deserves!

Maybe a little leaflet handed out on arrival explaining about the site, pitches and local info would be great and much easier than having to explain everything.

Gostou: Very welcoming park was clean toilets and showers looked after could do with a bigger / better park more stuff for kids
