Relax into a romantic rural retreat looking out over what was once an ancient manor house moat. Now a secluded hideaway for two, The Reed Bed sits on the water’s edge in a peaceful half-acre of wild meadow. Set among rolling fields on the edge of Constable Country, you'll have this pop-up luxury site to yourself. While away the day exploring and picking plums from the orchard, and then settle down beside the firepit when the sun goes down. The five-metre luxury bell tent is decked out with a king-sized bed, extra-cosy duvet and a log-burning stove. In the private en-suite bathroom, hidden among towering bamboo, you'll find a walk-in copper rain shower and flushing toilet. Wake to the sound of the resident mallards and moorhens splashing on the water. There’s an outdoor seating area with a firepit and barbecue where you can watch the drama unfold. Afterwards, follow your nose along the footpaths that crisscross the surrounding countryside (there are maps available on site, so you won’t get too lost). Prep your own food using the outdoor kitchen facilities, which include a fridge, electric hobs and barbeque (plus all-important phone-charging points). And when you feel like dining out, there’s a pub 10 minutes’ walk away, not forgetting all the eateries in the surrounding villages - you'll find a list of recommendations in the bell tent. If you feel like some pampering, there’s also a manor house hotel for afternoon teas and spa treatments half an hour's walk away.

Tenda em forma de sino

Gostou The bell tent is an absolute hidden gem, which was close enough to local towns that we could source everything we needed, but far enough from everything that we were able to step away from the chaos of our day to day lives to enjoy the peace and serenity of the reed bed. It was truly magical (especially at night) walking to the bell tent, the lighting provided made it feel cosy and private. The facilities provided were incredible, from the bell tent to the bathroom and kitchen, to the extent also that my partner is desperate to know where the duvet is from, there was not a moment that we were uncomfortable, or felt as though we couldn’t access what we required. The log fire and barbecue (half moon fire pit) were excellent for warmth when the sun started to disappear, and the wood provided was more than enough to fuel our stay, despite not being experienced fire starters! The views that were solely ours took our breath away, and no pictures we took felt as though they fully captured the beauty of our surroundings. Incredibly grateful for the experience, all that was provided and the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the calming countryside.

Não gostou No dislikes to be mentioned, only that our trip came to its inevitable end, especially before we had managed to befriend the sweet ducks/mallards that occupy the pond, on our next visit we will surely be prepared to bribe them to accept us and to stay for longer!
