Travel five miles inland from the sunny Suffolk coastline and you’ll arrive at this little gem on the outskirts of Wenhaston. The gorgeous, well-maintained grounds at this smart site are just part of the attention to detail all around the park, which has been carefully laid out by the friendly and helpful owners. There's greenery all around here: this small and pretty site has its own nature trail and lake, and is surrounded by acres of countryside for hikes and rambles. If walking isn't your thing, hire bikes from the Southwold Bike Centre (20 minutes' drive away) to pedal around the flats of Suffolk; horse riding's pretty popular in the area too, or you could go golfing at Halesworth Golf Club five minutes' drive away. Taking things (much easier), the local pub is a 10-minute walk down the road. Heathside Caravans has a village shop and an off-licence on site for those holiday essentials, and a well-maintained shower block for guests' use. For more supplies. the village of Halesworth is under 15 minutes' drive away and Aldeburgh, Snape and Beccles are all within half an hour.

Cabana

Gostou The shepherd's hut was a great size and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Everyone working at Heathside was friendly and helpful, making our stay very easy.

Não gostou Given the price of the hut, it would be great if bedding was provided. Otherwise, I think these could be cheaper.

Gostou Lovely spacious fully serviced pitches. Be aware though you may need longer water, waste and tv connections. Very well kept, spacious areas for walking dogs and children to play away from pitches including a nature walk. Well stocked onsite shop and off-licence. Pub within a 2 min drive of 10-15 min walk. Showers and toilet facilities kept clean. Westhanton Heath right opposite site entrance. Nice offsite walks.

Não gostou Not a dislike but only 1 shower each in ladies and gents although can use disabled if free. Not a problem for us as site was quiet during our stay but if fully occupied could be an issue. Needs shelf to put shower gels etc whilst showering. No barrier security so anyone can access site although wasn't a problem.

Cabana

Gostou It was a lovely relaxing and peaceful sight. Everything needed was there. Well stocked shop. Very clean shepherds hut and comfortable. Very spacious too. The facilities were very clean throughout the day.

Não gostou Could do with more showers as there was only one in the ladies and you were allowed to use the disabled facilities if the shower were busy. Could do with a couple more.

Gostou Nice size pitch with good facilities. Site had lovely green areas and having the heath opposite to walk the dog was fantastic. The onsite shop was a nice addition too.

Não gostou The shower/toilet facilities are insufficient for the number of guests using them. We arrived at the end of a half term break and all pitches were taken. At this time getting a shower was an ordeal. That said, after the crowds left the facilities were more than enough. The toilets/showers were always kept clean. WiFi was very poor!

Atrações locais

After all the walking, cycling, horse riding and golfing, get stuck into the area's history at the 12th-century fortress of Framlingham Castle, half an hour's drive away. Once the refuge of Mary Tudor, this fab place now has exhibitions, themed trails and an audio tour covering its centuries of history: enough to keep young Horrible Histories fans entertained too. Arty sorts will know that Suffolk is Constable country: if this is you, come armed with camera or paintbox to snap and sketch the countryside, harbour and coastal views around the area. You could also take a trip to art complex the Snape Maltings on the Alde river, for events, activities and evening entertainment in the concert hall. Seaside? But of course. Have a stroll around Southwold and its colourful beach huts, or drive half an hour north to Lowestoft for seaside amusements and Pleasurewood Hills, a nifty tucked away theme park with rollercoasters and attractions for all. Walberswick beach, around a 15-minute drive from Heathside, is a popular spot for crabbing. If you’re staying at Heathside for a while, set off early and spend the whole day on the Norfolk Broads (about an hour and 15 minutes' drive north, or drive south for around an hour and a half to the villages of Long Melford and Lavenham with their medieval timber-framed houses.
