Surrounded by farmland and open space with lots of lovely wildlife, Broom Meadow Camping fits the bill for a country getaway with the whole family, dogs included. The well-maintained meadow is just a five-minute walk away from a playing field and playground, with a local pub and post office five minutes further on in the gorgeous country village of Barnham Broom. Being in the countryside has its perks, of course. Firstly, there are easy wildlife-spotting activities around the local village, and owls nesting on site. Second, there are plenty of opportunities for rural walks with the dog (and/or the kids), and the option of ending those with a celebratory pint (lemonade or beer, whichever you prefer) in the village. Back at base, the facilities are simple but well designed, consisting of a shower and toilet block and water and waste points. If you want to get your bearings, the first thing to note is that Broom Meadow Camping is half an hour’s drive from the very centre of Norwich, which of course has lots to do and see. Heading north, it’s a 50-minute drive to the Norfolk coast for places like Cromer and Sheringham. You may not make it that far though, as this is a pretty area with splendid little villages, lovely countryside and things to do. For starters, the Whitwell & Reepham Railway Station is a 25-minute drive away. As well as running heritage train rides, it sits on the Marriott’s Way cycle path along the original railway track. After a bike ride or train trip, head back to nab yourself a coffee and cake in the café next to the museum.

Gostou Great host really welcoming. Small site so was nice a quiet. Shower/toilet very clean and worked well. Fridge was also provided in the unit so very handy to keep stuff fresh as well.

Gostou Basic but excellent, clean and well maintained facilities. Big space and they limit the amount of people staying at a given time so I don't think you would ever find yourself crammed in next to somebody else - great for those visiting with children and dogs. Loads of trees running around the outskirts which is brilliant for putting up a hammock - would absolutely recommend for anybody who enjoys camping this way! Short walk to a local play park, short drive to local town or city for days out or food. Owners really friendly and took the time to make sure all our needs were met. Cannot fault it.

Gostou Very friendly proprietors: Amy was very welcoming when we arrived.
Laid back simple site with loads of space.
Generally, this is all we need (don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles of the larger sites).
Essentially a flat rectangular field surrounded by a hedge. Rained whilst we were staying, but no problem with drainage.
Occupancy (max No of tents/pitches) limited by the proprietors to keep it a relaxed and spacious feeling site.
Very rural feel to the location (quiet spot, and very dark at night).
Pub (with a simple food menu) a short distance away (with pedestrian pavement next to the road throughout) - take a torch if attending after dark!
Very well maintained and clean facilities included an inside washing up sink, fridge, and an excellent shower.

Não gostou Signage into the site was very minimal- we drove passed initially. I’m pleased that I checked what it looked like on Google Maps prior to arrival.
It’s a small site, aimed at a low occupancy, so this may seem nit-picky, but having a separate toilet to the shower would be an improvement on the current combined (but otherwise, excellent) facility. if someone is already in there having a shower, you may need to cross your legs while you wait for access!

Other than the above, it’s really hard not to like the place for a short stay.

Gostou The campsite was fantastic so much space for the kids to paly and some trees for shade and playing games. really good toilet facilities with a lovely and hot shower. The owners where so helpful and welcoming even brining the kid some ice lolly's on a very hot day

Gostou We stayed at this campsite recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

The hosts Amy and Graham are wonderful and made sure everything was as it should be. They were very accommodating to all the guests and assisted some campers with local wedding destinations.

Site is flat with no designated pitches and has very new and modern washing up and toilet/shower facilities.

There is a great pub just down the road, which serves food.

When coming into the village with the School on your left, look for the sign soon after that.

Our Sat Nav did not take us to the site, so may be beneficial to use Waze!

Gostou Great little site, love the location, not far from market towns but village-y enough. The low numbers of pitches limit means its so very quiet. I am a solo cycle-camper, so the picnic table and pitch where I want was ideal. Bathroom facilities spotless, and a great little use of space including free shower. I will definitely be back as/when needed in that area

Não gostou Nothing really. I SHOULD have read the booking details then I would have taken enough cash, but the bank transfer option worked well.

With Norwich (half an hour’s drive) being so easy to get to from Broom Meadow Camping, you may want to take your chance to tour the city’s sights. Perhaps start by visiting the medieval cathedral and the Museum of Norwich, before seeking out Norwich Market (the scent of fish and chips is a sure giveaway…). Since you’re in the countryside, maybe you fancy seeing some animals? There are rare sorts at Melsop Farm Park (20 minutes) such as Middle White pigs and the world’s smallest sheep breed, Ouessant Sheep. The play areas and hands-on animal experiences make this a fine choice for family days out. Meanwhile, ROARR! (15 minutes) has dinosaur-themed rides for kids who like to test their bravery. With 80 acres to explore, Eaton Park (20 minutes) also has lots to get stuck into for families such as a miniature railway and boat pond. For an afternoon of gentle strolling, Wymondham (15 minutes) is a top contender. The historic market town has a large abbey founded by Benedictine monks.
