In need of an escape? Settle in at Camping at West Midlands Showground, a family-friendly Shropshire site less than 15 minutes’ walk from Shrewsbury town centre, where tourist sites and shopping are within easy reach and there’s plenty of green space for kids and the dogs to run around on. Peaceful urban getaways are a dream here: days can be spent wandering the winding medieval streets of Shrewsbury, exploring castle and abbey, strolling around gardens and parks, following the Darwin Town Trail (the evolutionist was born here) and taking boating trips on the Severn. Anyone fishing for a good time should swim back to site and cast a line in the Severn. Part of the Greenhous West Mid Showground, the site’s facilities are pretty basic, but it does have its own fishing rights – plus it's well set for getting the most out of Shropshire and Shrewsbury explores, and finding fab eateries, pubs and ways to pass the time will be a piece of cake. Speaking of cake, there are plenty of restaurants in Shrewsbury for local bites, and barbecues are welcome on site for cooking more substantial meals.

Gostou I didn't like it

Não gostou Smelly toilets not very clean and very very dated. to much shouting and screaming and running about.. Some bloke whistling to his dog and shouting "come by on this site after dark. I own a dog and it really stressed her out... All the bins were full.

Gostou The grounds are large so plenty of space. This is a great location to get into Shrewsbury a very pleasant walk. Plenty to see in Shrewsbury lots of historical buildings and great to see they have been maintained.
Don't go on Mondays if you want to see the Art gallery and Museum, also the castle as they are not open which was disappointing for us. The Abbey is a must, shame its only a fraction of the size it originally was, I'll not give that one away I'll leave that to you to find out why.

Não gostou Toilets are a downfall could do with upgrade and the smell wasn't pleasant. Shower block was better.
Not sure about the children riding around on e scooters and no headgear could be a danger to themselves or others.

Gostou The location was perfect for a walk into Shrewsbury. Pitch was plenty big enough with good WiFi and staff were very helpful.

Não gostou The overall site is in need of a good tidy. Looks a bit neglected, bins untidy and all over flowing and smelly. Toilets were very dirty in the morning and no hot water in the shower unit.

Gostou Very relaxed and loads of space. Easy taxi ride into Shrewsbury. Friendly welcome and staff. Could basically do what you wanted. Amazing value for money. Will be back.

Gostou The location is really good and the staff are friendly.

Não gostou The cleanliness of the toilets and shower unit. There was no hot water on the last day I stayed there.

Gostou Easy access to town. 12/15 min walk. Lots of shops/ pubs. showers and toilets in mobiles but good. Old toilets not nice. Lots is space on filed. Park where you like. Bathe bit I was on was pretty level. Good price.

Não gostou Old toilets. And a dog that never stopped yapping. Really irritating. The owner never told it to be quite once. Spoilt my relaxing (?) stay ☹️

Once Shrewsbury has been well and truly explored (don’t forget a pitstop at The Mount, birthplace of Charles Darwin), venturing out into nature will be a welcome break from bricks and mortar. The site is a little over half an hour’s drive from the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where scenic wanders, horse riding, gliding and paragliding are the order of the day. If those walking boots haven’t seen enough action, make tracks for Buttington (35 minutes' drive) to join the Offa’s Dyke long-distance path and follow 177 miles of England-Wales border – alternatively, rest weary legs with a scenic boat tour along the Severn, leaving 15 minutes away. There’s plenty of history hereabouts, so dive right in with a look inside the fab 18th-century mansion at Attingham Park (and a stroll around the gardens and parkland) or a stop at the spectacular Sunnycroft villa in nearby Telford. Go from finery to industry by trundling along to the Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO site to explore the birthplace of the industrial revolution, making time for the recreated Victorian town of Blists Hill, the Coalport China Museum and the world’s first ever cast-iron bridge. Stay in the past (the very, very distant past) with a trip to Wroxeter Roman City and Vineyard, or return to the present with some modern urban days: Telford is half an hour away and has a snowboard and skiing centre that should keep families entertained, while Birmingham Is a little over an hour and a half from base if a real big-city vibe is needed.
