You’ll be tickled pink with a stay at Cranberry Moss Caravan Park, a sweet site in rural Shropshire. First up, it's surrounded by the peaceful county betwixt England and Wales that’s long been a bolthole for those seeking quiet rural times: even the invading Romans escaped here in between all that empire building… Next up, this is a well placed site for getting out and about among Shropshire’s activities and attractions – of which there are many, for the county’s gentle pace doesn’t mean a lack of stuff to do. Far from it: from Cranberry Moss you can roll along to world-famed attractions like Ironbridge Gorge, the Saxon – and Tudor – country town of Shrewsbury, and hikes or gentle strolls aplenty among the Long Mynd, Stretton Hills and the Wrekin, all part of the Shropshire Hills of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All this is most easily accessed, as the site is just off the A5 in a handy spot between Oswestry (15 minutes’ drive) and Shrewsbury (20 minutes). For times when you’re not out roaming, there’s a games room and TV room, along with a dog walk area where canines can stretch their paws. Everyday needs are easily sorted here too, as the amenities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area and a launderette – these last two with spectacular Shropshire views to make your tasks less tiresome.

Gostou: Lovely clean site, pitches all had plenty of space, we had a grass pitch which was well drained the electric supply worked well. We were really pleased to see that there is a one way system for vehicles and the site owner was keen to see people follow this. There is a very short dog walk which is useful. We were glad to find the site has a little shop which was well stocked. Loved the fact that the site has lights at night but they are very discreate so you can enjoy the night sky.

Não gostou: We might have missed the recycling, but we didn't see any.

Gostou: Lovely clean camp site. Shower and toilet block was alway clean. Owner are lovely. Little shop reasonable priced. Dog walking track to let the dogs of lead. Great weekend.

Gostou: Great find, just off the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry. Lovely pitch and clean amenities. Very helpful owner and a beautifully kept site.

Não gostou: A little traffic noise but didn't cause issues with sleeping.

Não gostou: Made feel very uncomfortable by site manager arrived slightly early was told there’s a cafe down the road did even offer us to park up and and get familiar with the site, also there constantly walking or driving around the site making you feel uncomfortable and unable to relax think they need to relax a bit more

Do gerente: i you dont like our campsite dont come back you came at 1130 and we dont let anybody on that early and i have things too do on the campsite thats why i walk and drive round i dont have too explain why i go round my owen campsite thank you

Gostou: The toilets and showers were very clean and the whole site was well cared for. Handy for both Oswestry and Shrewsbury and other attractions. I went to Attingham Park, which was lovely and Carding Mill Valley -both of which were within 15 miles of the site.

Gostou: Showers Toilets Accessibility

Não gostou: Not the owners fault at all. But the 'extras' hadn't fed through from pitchup, this caused a bit of commotion upon arrival. But once we found internet, and loaded the confirmation email direct from pitchup. All was resolved. Just a heads up to all that book via pitchup, awnings, dogs & even children. Don't always feed to the sites.

Gostou: Lovely site, warm showers, fenced off dog area where you can let your dog off, brilliant idea!

Não gostou: Good out way the bad, but there was an occasional strong smell of cannabis.

Shropshire’s absolutely stacked with things to do – outdoorsy activities, museums, castles, arty attractions, theatres, shops… If you’re blinded by choice or need a bit of inspiration, who better to ask than the folk on site, local experts who’ll happily dole out a bit of advice. Among the top picks they might point you towards are the splendid estates of Attingham Park (20 minutes’ drive), a National Trust property where you can paddle canoes or frolic in the Field of Play, and Weston Park (40 minutes), to stroll through gardens designed by the famed Capability Brown. Those Roman visitors left a bit of stuff behind when they moved on, and you can see their style on a trip to Wroxeter Roman City (20 minutes). This area was central to more recent history too – notably at Ironbridge (35 minutes), birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with fab museums and family-friendly attractions. If you’re in the company of kids (or indeed grownups) fascinated by all things that move, pack them into the car for the 40-minute drive to see the planes at the Royal Air Force Museum or to take a steam-driven ride on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth.
