At Walnut Cottage Caravan Park, a peaceful family-run site 10 minutes’ drive from the small town of Much Wenlock in Shropshire, finding the dream getaway doesn’t have to be a tough nut to crack. Nine miles from Wenlock Edge and surrounded by the meadows and woodlands of the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, Walnut Cottage is a paradise for ramblers and adventurers. Heaps of walking routes, cycling routes and riding trails – many of which are part of the Shropshire Way circular – crisscross the area, so pull on those walking boots, don your bike helmet or climb into the saddle and explore. For the little legs struggling to keep up, a play park back on site will buoy moods – let the kids burn off some energy on the swings, climbing frame and trampoline (or in the toddlers' area if they're still mini). Feeling peckish? Fire up the barbecue and pile it high with supplies from the convenience store in Much Wenlock, then tuck in by the campfire. Friendly dogs are welcome on site, so don’t forget to toss Rex a bone – just make sure he’s leashed first. There is no wifi on site.

Gostou Absolutely stunning site, so well looked after. All amenities are spotless - definitely the cleanest campsite we have ever stayed on!
Brilliant for kids too, 2 play areas and space for them to run about.
Dogs are more than welcome as long as on a lead.
The owner Wayne is lovely, a warm welcome when we arrived and everything explained. Large automatic gates to the site which makes everything so secure.

Will 100% be returning.

Gostou I recently stayed at Walnut Cottage Caravan Park and had a fantastic experience overall. The owner of the site was very welcoming and could not do enough for you to make you stay comfortable.
The site was exceptionally clean, which immediately made it feel welcoming and well cared for. The shower facilities were excellent—modern, spotless, and clearly maintained to a high standard, which really added to the comfort of the stay.
The grounds themselves are beautifully kept, with plenty of attention given to keeping everything tidy and pleasant. It’s clear that a lot of pride goes into maintaining the park, and it shows in every detail.
especially if you’re comfortable manoeuvring your vehicle on narrow lanes.

Shrewsbury was amazing town to visit and looking forward to going back soon

One thing to note, however, is that the roads within area of the park are quite narrow. If you’re not a particularly confident tower, this could be a bit challenging and something to keep in mind before booking.
Overall, though, it’s a lovely, well-run site that I would happily recommend—especially if you’re comfortable manoeuvring your vehicle on narrow lanes.

Gostou We had a puncture just outside the place. Wayne helped us fix it.
He was so helpful, understanding and a true gentleman.
The place was amazing. We came with our 8 year old granddaughter.
She loved it.
The showers and toilets were the best and cleanest we’ve ever had and we’ve been doing this for twenty odd years!
I wish he were closer to home as we’d be visiting more often. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Gostou Clean, well maintained wash room, showers , etc. Any minor issues sorted out straight away. Separate football playing area away from pitches. Beautiful area. Pitches pretty level. Quiet after 9pm until 9am.

Gostou Really lovely site, friendly welcome by Wayne who was going to collect a takeaway away and asked us if we would like one so he collected one for us too. Site is spotless and well kept with beautiful views over Wenlock Edge and county surrounding it.
Toilets and showers were absolutely spotless. Pitches had plenty of room and were hardstanding. We really enjoyed our lovely peaceful weekend. I would highly recommend this beautiful site and definitely be returning.

This part of Shropshire is brimming over with history. Start with an exploration of the ruins and reconstructions at the Wroxeter Roman city, Viriconium, 15 minutes’ drive from Walnut Cottage Caravan Park, then jump forward a thousand years or so for something more recent: at the birthplace of the industrial revolution in Ironbridge Gorge, 20 minutes away, wander through Blists Hill Victorian Town, learn about the history of iron in the Coalbrookdale Museum and cross the first cast-iron bridge in the world. There are plenty of stately homes and (formerly) impregnable fortresses nearby: the 13th-century Stokesay Castle is 30 minutes from Walnut Cottage, and the spectacular Attingham Park, Wilderhope Manor and Benthall Hall are all within 20 minutes of the site. The local towns are no slouches either: Church Stretton, the only town within the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, dates back to Norman times; Much Wenlock is home to a precursor to the modern Olympic Games, and the Wenlock Olympian Games are still held every year; and Shrewsbury was the birthplace of the Origin of Species’ Charles Darwin. For a break from history, hire a raft for a tour at Ironbridge Gorge, take to the slopes at the snowboarding and skiing centre in Telford, or get muddy at Severn Valley Quad Trekking, all within 35 minutes of Walnut Cottage.
