What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

  • The height barrier is pulled down from 8pm until 8pm so any taller vehicles above 1.98 meters (6ft 6 inches) needing to arrive or depart outside these times will need to use the exterior car park.

Gostou: Very handy for Trent Bridge and Nottingham City Centre.

Não gostou: Organisation - on arrival my pitch was occupied. Shower block - functional, but old and tired, shower cubicles poor quality.

Gostou: The tent pitch was excellent, and even with so much rainfall in a short space of time the ground was good. The lighting around the site was good, keeping the pathways walkable throughout the night. So easy to walk over to the watersports centre, which was great, as we were pulling trolleys along every day. The booking process was very straightforward.

Não gostou: I felt the toilets and showers were not cleaned over the weekend, as the same rubbish left on a toilet floor was there all weekend. I didn't see a warden all weekend,. Is the site manned at weekends?

Gostou: I received all the info I needed prior to arrival to allow me to find my pitch easily and gain access through the entrance barrier. Warm showers, plenty of toilets and washing up space and easy access to Holme PowerPoint for the Dragonboat nationals event

Gostou: We were sited close to facilities and the play park for the grand kids. It was great no one bothered us. It's my first time here but I don't think it will be my last

Gostou: The playground. Relaxed atmosphere and good facilities.

Não gostou: It was very loud way past the curfew with now warden to remind people to quieten down. One group was having a party until way past midnight.

Gostou: What an absaloutley fantastic site love all the different named pitches We stayed on meadows Great location Showers were hot and stayed on so not having to hold your finger on the button.lots toilets toilet rolls, bins ect, Ventured over to the watersports there was a big event absaloutley amazing Lots of activities and would like to return with other family members/grand children Weather was mixed but still managed to get out When the sun shined it was perfect,🥰

Não gostou: I think because of the event and been busy when I went to the showers they were gruby Understandable, it's busy but there were nothing to clean away your wet water for the next person I did notice going early the showers were clean Lots cobwebs and dead midgets needs a good hose down But as long as they stay high above I'm fine

Gostou: Lost of room to pitch your tent and was placed next to my friends as requested. Easy to find and it was a great place to stay for the weekend.

Não gostou: Vagueness about late checkout meant we were unable to book one.

Gostou: Showers and shop, helpful staff. Very convenient for Holme Pierpoint events. Would recommend, purely based on location.

Não gostou: Noisy guests late into the night, 10pm quiet site rules not observed, light pollution and noise.

If you've any energy left over or you're hardily thinking that the watery and land-based activities of the Holme Pierrepont Country Park just aren't enough, get along to the cycle paths of Colwick Country Park on the outskirts of Nottingham, which have miles of waterside biking alongside the River Trent. Wildlife watchers can wander around Skylarks Nature Reserve, owned by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, highly recommended by the Holme Pierrepont Country Park team and 15 minutes' drive from the site.
