Sometimes you just want a hidey-hole somewhere with a well-stocked fishing pond, views over the countryside and an all-around peaceful vibe… and what a fitting place Camper UK Leisure Park would be. The well-kept site is set in 18 acres of the Lincolnshire countryside, right on the National Cycle Route 64 (a track which very, conveniently, leads the way to historic Lincoln). The city’s also a 20-minute drive from Camper UK Leisure Park for those heading that way on four wheels and not two. With a medieval cathedral and a castle with a Victorian prison and a copy of the Magna Carta, it’s a historical outing indeed. Of course, you might want to reserve an afternoon (or two, or three, or four) to lounge around by the site’s pond. Try your luck fishing for mirror or common carp (great for the novice, as well as the experienced angler) or take the short, raised walk around the pond and wildlife watch from the seats around the shore. For those who are feeling particularly energetic (and you just might be, with the excitement of a break in Lincolnshire fresh on your mind), there are numerous local walks and footpaths for days out hiking or dog walking. Yes, dogs are welcome here too. Facilities-wise, Camper UK Leisure Park has a handy set available. The modern centrally-heated facilities block has male, female and disabled toilets, washing-up facilities and showers. There’s also a handy separate utility room with two sinks and drainers, a fridge, a washing machine and a tumble dryer (this one requires a small fee) to make your stopover comfier.

Lovely site and would definitely visit again.

Não gostou They have a rally field, which on our weekend was a Dog fest. We love dogs as we have a very reactive Dog ourselves. We were just grateful that we had chosen to leave him at home that weekend. If we had brought him, it would’ve been a very stressful weekend for all of us due to him being reactive with other dogs, and as you can imagine the whole site was full of dogs.

It was lovely to see all the dogs and as I say fortunately, we didn’t have a problem. I just think perhaps a telephone call to them in future to check what event they have on the rally field would be best.

Não gostou The showers near the games room need updating. If someone else uses a shower at the same time, even in the opposite sex rooms, the water pressure drops to a point that it dribbles out of the shower head. This is the only negative we have

Gostou John the site manager was so welcoming and helpful, facilities spotless, fishing was brilliant for my lads. Nice and peaceful site.

Não gostou WiFi wasn’t the best, but maybe that’s not such a bad thing as it meant I could fully disconnect from work for a few days.

Gostou Visited with my 9 yr old son and our French bulldog Luna. Lovely site, comfortable double bed in the pod also a kettle and fridge. John the site manager was so friendly and welcoming, making sure everybody was fine when a storm hit and the heavens opened. Games room with darts, pool table and football table brilliant for my 9 yr old son. The fishing lake was fab, my son had his first go and caught a whopper with the help of another guest. He was really pleased with himself. Close to the lovely Lincoln and we visited mablethorpe beach which was lovely and great for dogs. Great value for money

Não gostou Very very minor and not really something to dislike but could be a problem to others, the blind in the pod let quite abit of light in so could be quite bright in the morning but it didn’t disturb our sleep. No WiFi but that was known on booking and not a problem to us

Gostou the camping pod was clean and really spacious, recently changed out the couch for a bed and it was comfortable sleeping there for two nights, very peaceful and spacious place and toilet blocks were kept super clean and well-stocked

If that’s not quite enough history for you, Doddington Hall & Gardens (five minutes) is an Elizabethan manor house with walled gardens, a café and farm shop and the International Bomber Command Centre (25 minutes) traces the story of Lincoln’s Bomber Command. Swap in the museums for the sand if you feel like a lazy day on Lincolnshire’s east coast. Destinations like Ingoldmells and Skegness are an hour and 20 minutes’ drive away.
