Sometimes you just want a hidey-hole somewhere with a well-stocked fishing pond, views over the countryside and an all-around peaceful vibe… and what a fitting place Camper UK Leisure Park would be. The well-kept site is set in 18 acres of the Lincolnshire countryside, right on the National Cycle Route 64 (a track which very, conveniently, leads the way to historic Lincoln). The city’s also a 20-minute drive from Camper UK Leisure Park for those heading that way on four wheels and not two. With a medieval cathedral and a castle with a Victorian prison and a copy of the Magna Carta, it’s a historical outing indeed. Of course, you might want to reserve an afternoon (or two, or three, or four) to lounge around by the site’s pond. Try your luck fishing for mirror or common carp (great for the novice, as well as the experienced angler) or take the short, raised walk around the pond and wildlife watch from the seats around the shore. For those who are feeling particularly energetic (and you just might be, with the excitement of a break in Lincolnshire fresh on your mind), there are numerous local walks and footpaths for days out hiking or dog walking. Yes, dogs are welcome here too. Facilities-wise, Camper UK Leisure Park has a handy set available. The modern centrally-heated facilities block has male, female and disabled toilets, washing-up facilities and showers. There’s also a handy separate utility room with two sinks and drainers, a fridge, a washing machine and a tumble dryer (this one requires a small fee) to make your stopover comfier.

Este camping é muito recomendado, elogiado pela limpeza impecável, ambiente tranquilo e campings espaçosos. Funcionários amigáveis e prestativos, lago pitoresco e instalações sanitárias em ótimo estado são pontos altos. Pesca muito procurada. Apesar de pequenos pontos a melhorar (Wi-Fi, botões do chuveiro), o sentimento é muito positivo, com muitos querendo voltar.

Gostou Everything, the owners were very helpful and pleasant, all facilities clean and tidy, fishing lake was great for my daughter we enjoyed every minute of our stay, will definitely be back

Gostou Great sized pitches with clear instructions from owner where to go. Choice of pitches as they weren't fully booked (I don't know why though its idyllic). Toilets and showers were spotless and very functional. Absolutely beautiful surroundings with the ponds and Ducks. Fishing was out of this world even though the Pond levels were very low due to the recent heatwaves. Location is excellent, site managers were very friendly and helpful. I honestly cannot fault the place and will be going back very very soon.

Não gostou Not a dislike just a constructive criticism, The main refuse bin is very large and for the smaller people on the site could be a little difficult to open. I struggled to tip out my barbeque ashes. Honestly not a criticism though.

Gostou Setting was lovely after a 6 hour drive from Edinburgh.
Toilet/shower block was clean and well stocked. Would have benefitted from a little shelf for toiletries above the sink.

Não gostou The camping hut had a sofa bed which was smaller than a double bed. Luckily we’d seen the reviews and brought our comfy mattress topper that we put on the floor. Would have been better having a double bed in it.
England were playing France (a cracking game watched on a tablet & in friend’s camper, would have been nicer to watch all together in the games room but the tv would not switch on despite new batteries in the remote from the manager .

Gostou Quiet on the field with great sunsets

Não gostou TV in sports room not working, we wanted to watch England football match, manager not very helpful changed batteries in the remote(which was broken & held together with tape), and said "he didnt go into sports room" didnt get to see match very disappointing!

Gostou Plenty of space, level field. Combined toilet and showers were clean and serviced. Friendly staff. Well laid out site.

Não gostou Suggestions rather than dislike. Went for the lake fishing. Suggestion better access and proper pegs rather than scrambling down to the lake. Seemed overstocked. Fish were throwing themselves on the hook.

If that’s not quite enough history for you, Doddington Hall & Gardens (five minutes) is an Elizabethan manor house with walled gardens, a café and farm shop and the International Bomber Command Centre (25 minutes) traces the story of Lincoln’s Bomber Command. Swap in the museums for the sand if you feel like a lazy day on Lincolnshire’s east coast. Destinations like Ingoldmells and Skegness are an hour and 20 minutes’ drive away. It’s easy to get carried away with the amusements, so those wanting to get back to nature can take on the lakeside trails at Whisby Nature Park (10 minutes) or browse through Pennells Garden Centre Lincoln (10 minutes) Check out the schedule for Newark Showground (20 minutes) for fairs, festivals and events throughout the year.
