When you arrive in the Cotswolds, it’s easy to get swept away in the honey-coloured villages, countryside landscapes and wandering wildlife. So set your anchor at The T Barn, a scenic farm valley site 10 minutes’ drive from Bibury and Cirencester nicely set up for a cosy retreat in England’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From here, you’ll be well-based to get out to cycle-easy lanes, nature reserve trails or stretches of farmland – or take to the water with paddleboarding, windsurfing and the like at the Cotswold Water Park 20 minutes’ drive away. The site is 10 minutes’ walk from the handsome village of Barnsley – it's a small place but its village pub and hotel both bring a buzz with some splendid food and distinguished garden design in the hotel. On site, there are hot showers, luxury compost loos and a hut for washing up dishes, so the essentials are all covered. A few solar lights show the way around at night, as this place is off-grid for guests to take some time off the tech. Given that this site is quite remote, those of you who don’t want to bring a car might have lots of walking in store – but while cars are useful they’re not essential to your stay, as buses stop in the village four times per day. The local train stations are Kemble (15 minutes’ drive) or Swindon (35 minutes’ drive) and bicycles also have easy access to the site.

Gostou Excellent location with plenty of local walks and pubs, peace and quiet. Facilities were spot on, really nice and well organised site with great showers. Loads of wildlife as well as friendly happy cows to watch. Very pleasant host and diligent cleaning staff.
Despite the bank holiday being more rain than sun with some heavy downpours and windy conditions, the overall experience more than made up for it. Thank you for having us!

Gostou Lovely rural location, it was quiet upon arrival. The toilets and the showers were basic, think i fell unlucky in the morning with getting cold water!
Location was easy to find and I highly recommend the The Village Pub. The steak was out of this world!

Gostou Was dubious when I and my twins arrived but grew to love this site.

It would have been full marks if they had a small freezer you can freeze your ice packs as had to go out to get a bag of ice from the supermarket each day, but apart from that we loved it (good views l, nice and quite and excellent showers).

Não gostou I booked last second and so didn't get any kind of welcome information to know what to expect when I got there. I asked others at the campsite what I was meant to do.

Gostou Great space, friendly advice before arriving, facilities were great and kept clean. We had a pitch and a bell tent and what was provided covered everything expected. Showers were had good pressure and temperature and the compost looks worked great, emptied regularly. No phone signal which allowed to completely disconnect, but walking to the top of the hill meant phones can be checked when needed. Bibury near by for trout farm. Cirencester near by for shops, attractions, Organic farm shop, corinium museum and open air pool.

Gostou M4 was closed near Swindon and we were heading for wales so had to find a campsite before dark. Found this site near Cirencester. Beautiful field in the countryside with heifers and calves in the adjacent fields. Not a big site and plenty of room between vans/ tents. Loved that everything was off grid but that may not suit every camper.

Bell tent was very roomy, clean , literally everything you might need in there and the comfiest bed we have ever slept in with lovely quality bed linen and towels provided

Gostou Beautiful setting. Very relaxed. Friendly host who visits at least once per day. Very clean site with everything you could need. Great (hot) showers. Brilliant washing up area. Compost toilets. Plenty of bins available for recycling that are emptied as needed. My son also stayed in the yurt for one night and it was very impressive. White cotton sheets and thick mattresses on sprung beds with all equipment provided. We were camping in a tent and there was lots of space for our large tent. You need to go to the top of the hill (which is a gorgeous place to sit and watch the sunset or sunrise) or out in the car to get reception but being off grid was exactly what myself and my teenagers needed. We were local so it was a 30min drive home but despite only being away 3 days and 3 nights it felt like a weeks break away. Definitely visit if you need to unplug and unwind.

Cirencester open air pool is worth a visit. They have general (walk in) swim times and is in a gorgeous setting and very good value. Cirencester itself is a lovely market town with lots of quirky shops mixed in with high street shops and plenty of places to eat.

Horse riding your thing? The Talland School of Equitation (five minutes’ drive or 20 minutes’ walk) will introduce you to the local bridle paths. Whether it’s a lesson or a private ride you decide to trot off on, it's best to book in advance. But for a different mode of transport, the farm shop at Abbey Home Farm (five minutes’ drive) rents out bicycles or ebikes for a ride with a little extra oomph. You’ll have no hard time finding a suitable landscape for your camera in Bibury (10 minutes), as this is a particularly photogenic village with a scenic aquaculture farm too. The National Trust’s Lodge Park & Sherborne Park Estate (20 minutes) is another scenic spot, with England’s only surviving 17th-century grandstand as a unique feature. As for your wander down the National Trust's Arlington Row (10 minutes), you might feel like you’re right back in the old times among the row of weavers’ cottages from the 17th century, fashioned from what was once a 14th-century monastic wool store. And how to finish off? Perhaps with some watersports like paddleboarding, windsurfing or boating at the Cotswold Water Park (20 minutes)? Or the wildlife at Birdland Park & Gardens (25 minutes)?
