Was worried about the forecaster 37mph winds but the sits is surrounded by trees keeping the wind to a minimum!
Lovely small peaceful site perfectly located for what we needed - a trip to walby farm park (20mins away) a shopping trip to Carlisle (20mins away) and a wee 5min trip to Gretna for food supplies!
Facilities are beautiful, with added wee extras - ice poles, tea/coffee making stuff!
Little tree swings was an added bonus for my wee 1! Met on arrival, made to feel very welcome and pitch was a fab size!!
Niepolubione The road noise was a pain but nothing a good set of earplugs didn’t eliminate!

Small site just 10mins from Langholm or 20mins from Hawick! Basic site with a shower, toilets, sink for washing up! Sheep who like to say hello, chickens who lay amazing eggs and a sheep dog that made my kids smile!
The site is small, with amazing flat electric pitches and water available from a few taps dotted around! Pitch was a brilliant size and with empty pitches there was plenty space for the kids to run off some energy! With fire pits (available from the site) to roast marshmallows in the peaceful evenings!
A river runs to the side of the site which was brilliant for cooling down in and lots of stones for making towers!
We visited Langholm for the big play park and local coop but easily could have spent the day on the site, playing in the river and enjoying the peace and quiet of life!
Highly recommend this site and we will definitely be back!
Niepolubione I wish there was a gate which led into the park instead of having to leave the site and be close to the main road but I do understand the park is actually council owned and doesn’t belong to the site!

Polubione Loved this campsite!
Being “small campsite” lovers I was a bit apprehensive of a “bigger site” but my goodness it was perfect! So much so we’ve booked to come again! The tent area is tucked away from the main park but still within walking distance to everything! The park is super big and lots of fun for kids (mine ages 6&12) unisex shower block with individual cubical with toilet, skin and shower in each - lovely! Yes they get a bit messy but nothing awful! The pitch was a lovely decent size and lots of running about space for kids! Campsite went silent around 10pm so perfect for light sleepers. There is a bit of road noise but nothing earplugs didn’t take away! The games room is nice and small with some arcade games, pool tables and a nice big sofa! The cafe/take away we used twice and both times was brilliant service - even extremely busy (and roasting in there) the girls were lovely, friendly and always smiling! The pool £2.50 per adult £2 per child, bargain! We paid in the morning and had use of the pool until 9pm! Weather was on our side at 25c so our days where spent in the outdoor pool (we all look like we had a week in Spain not 3 nights in castle cray). Phone signal was 5g - perfect for what was needed. An absolute gem of a site and cannot wait to come back!
Niepolubione Absolutely nothing but remember your in Scotland so bug spray and candles are needed!

Polubione Just back from 3 nights here and my goodness I’ve fallen in love with the site!
Very flat, tree sheltered campsite with only a small amount of decent sized pitches! (Pick your own) electric available on every pitch but may need a longer cable for some pitches! Fresh water available within the site! River running along pitch side making for beautiful views! Just out the gate of the campsite is a massive community play park - absolute bonus when travelling with kids (mine are 6&12) then a little further up is the swimming pool where the washing facilities, bins, showers and toilets are. Swimming pool is pre-book and open from 3:30 - 6pm which was a blessing in this heatwave! Site is beautifully peaceful, bar the geese at the river and sheep in the next field (ear plugs if a light sleeper) the volunteer warden was onsite a few time and very approachable!
Overall a lovely little site, bonus pool and park and a short drive from Penrith!
