Picture your dream hols… Are you conjuring sandy beaches, sunny climes and splashing about in the ocean? No magic tricks required – just tootle along to Parque Orbitur São Jacinto, a family-friendly site five minutes’ drive from the village of São Jacinto in Portugal’s Aveiro region. It’s a cinch to tick off sun, sea and sand hereabouts, as long as the weather holds true: the site’s 10 minutes from the nearest beach, where anyone keen to get out on the waves can have a go at bodyboarding and surfing, or simply take a stroll along the sand and catch some rays. If the north Atlantic is a little too wild, a more serene option is even closer to hand: the famed Aveiro lagoon (one of Europe’s only areas of coastal marshland) is just across the road, so dive right in for a swim or cast out a line for an afternoon of fishing. Fancy lazing about on site? Settle in for quiet days in the leafy shade, dispatching bored kids to the on-site playground when peace is required. When the family gets peckish, nip over to the snack bar for a quick bite or pick up something small at the shop. For more substantial fare, fire up the barbecue and get grilling or sample the local eats within 10 minutes at one of the peninsula’s restaurants.

Polubione Reception staff were pleasant natured and welcoming.

Lovely fresh cooked croissants in the morning. Had to be ordered the evening before.

Our dog was welcome. Thank you for being dog friendly.

The place was clean and regular maintenance activity was evident.

Niepolubione Mosquitoes in the evening. This place is next to a lagoon (?) and we were eaten up. These mosquitoes laughed at our citronella candle. We had to retreat into our motor home and shut everything tightly.

Lots are marked and delimited by a sometimes confusing series of ropes and small posts which was also not attractive.

The main (?) toilet-shower house was closed. There was another one to use a bit farther away, fortunately.

Sales transactions in the store-cafe were very tedious. Lengthy screen activity and wait times. Paying for one item could require a minute or longer and sometimes involved the use of a calculator.

Polubione Site is small and the grounds are well kept. Staff friendly and helpful.

Niepolubione Our major concern was that the drinking water hose at the motorhome service point was also the only hose available to flush the chemical toilet; this is not acceptable.
Unfortunately we also experienced a mosquito problem at the site.

Polubione Ubicado en reserva natural, el pueblo mas cercano, hay que ir en coche, pero no esta mal. La playa esta como a unos 20 min caminando. Destacar la ambilidad del personal que atiende el bar por la noche.

Niepolubione Habiamos reservado una parcela con electricidad. Nos pusieron pegas pq según sus normas, no permiten la recarga de coche eléctrico. Cuando lo tienen limitado a 6Ah. (he mirado el historial y hemos cargado 2,34Kwh, se ha arruinado vamos!!). Tuvimos que insisitr para decir que habiamos pagado por parcela y luz. Cuando nos ibamos a ir a otro sitio, el encargado accedió.
Los baños no se limpian todos los dias, en fecha de salida (1 sept), se habian limpiado supuestamente el 29 de agosto. muy sucias tanto las paredes de las duchas como el WC. No volveremos a esta cadena de campings.

La tranquilidad del lugar…

Lokalne atrakcje

During stays, a jaunt (or two, or three) into the fab São Jacinto Dunes Natural Reserve is an absolute must: just five minutes’ drive from base, it’s a top spot for birdwatching and trails among and along dunes, and there’s a small interpretive centre that’s worth a visit. The reserve takes up quite a bit of São Jacinto peninsula, but there’s plenty left to explore… It’s an easy drive, but if two wheels are a better fit for holiday vibes than four, park up at Torreira beach (10 minutes away) to join cycle paths heading north and south along the coast. Once local beaches no longer appeal, paddle along to the famous (and famously pretty) Costa Nova beach 50 minutes from the site, where exquisitely colourful striped beach huts are a happy snapper's dream, or pile into the car for a jaunt to one of three waterparks within an hour and a half. If a city day is called for, Aveiro is about 45 minutes away for museums, gardens, galleries, markets and a particularly pretty train station. For more adventures, carry on beyond the city for the Navio-Museu Santo Andre (it’s on a boat) and the stunning Barra lighthouse, or travel an hour up the coast to the larger city of Porto.
