Ooh la la… isn’t Domaine Les Teuillères just splendid? Have a gander at the pics to picture yourself settling in well at this site centred around an old country house in the lush Lot department. Set in the Midi-Pyrénées, the park has plenty of places to rest your head in the sun or shade, with gorgeous views out over the Lac du Tolerme and the hills.
While you admire the green surrounds – or better yet, dive into the pool – kids can saunter straight towards the swing, slide and playhouse. Table tennis tables, a trampoline, a bowling alley and a sports field for volleyball and badminton are also to hand.
When dusk rolls in, gather round the campfire with beer or wine (booze is sold on site) and plan tomorrow’s exploits, maybe sticking close to home by spending the day at Lac du Tolerme (a half an hour’s walk away) for pedal boating, canoeing and fishing, or simply toddle off on roams along the path circling the water.
Already thinking about food? Pick up a homemade pizza made in a traditional bread oven in the on-site bakery; the park also regularly puts on barbecues and buffets and sells French fries, fresh orange juice, coffee and ice cream.
Other amenities at Domaine Les Teuillères include a heated facilities building in the restored country house, with toilets, hot showers and a washing machine.

Around this area known as the Jardin du Ségala, with lush forests, deep valleys and rocky outcrops galore, wanders are never far away: set off on a stroll from Latouille-Lentillac (a 20-minute drive) up through woodland with artsy sculptures dotted around.
The whole Midi-Pyrénées area is a place of caves, châteaux and markets… take a scenic drive around the region to see sights like Le Saut Grand waterfall (20 minutes), dropping by historical villages enroute, or head towards Causses du Quercy Natural Regional Park (an hour’s journey by car) for adventures of the caving, canyoning, abseiling and climbing sort.
If you’d rather skip scaling the walls and see critters swing from tree to tree instead, meander over to Monkey Forest (55 minutes away) to watch the free-roaming macaques. Other creatures are the same distance away at the Animal Park of Gramat and you can witness slithering lizards et al at Reptiland within an hour.
