Punch Bowl Hotel

Polubione Well marked and spacious pitch. 10x10 metres. EHU available with water point and kitchen clean up area. Disposable toilet waste facility. Beautiful site close to waterfall and river walks. Central to this site is the Punch Bowl pub. Landlord and Landlady are special people, honest, caring, genuine and run a great pub with excellent food. So I have read previous reviews, yes there is only one onsite toilet and shower, however there is use of the pub toilet during opening times, very early till when ever the pub closes. Also, This site is a developing project with plans to increase the shower and toilet facilities. I have to say we had the best time for a short stay. Met loads of friendly people and top marks to the landlord and Landlady, made our stay.

Polubione Excellent site, very friendly owners of the pub, great beer garden to sit in & listen to live music that was on, food looked great & lots of people eating but we didn’t eat there this time, will definitely come back to stay again

Polubione Absolutely beautiful place to stay it was brilliant for the children to play,the place was nice and tidy and there are plenty of walks bike rides etc in the local vicinity, the pub did lovely food and it was nice and quiet place and a small town up the road with a couple of shops for any bits that you may have forgotten like I did.

Niepolubione We visited on the Bank Holiday weekend, which you expect to be busy, and admittedly, some of these aren't the owner's fault, but I feel they should be mentioned all the same. The fact that the site is new is understandable and there are bound to be some teething problems going on, but the fact that they advertise 48 motorhomes and 40 tent pitches is ridiculous for the size of the site.

We were packed in like sardines, so much so that it felt unsafe.
We were in the smallest tent of them all, yet everyone still found us. We got hit by footballs, frisbees, and even a remote-controlled car.

Once the live music at the pub had finished at 8pm, everyone (slightly tipsy) came back to their tents to play their own music. That's all fine, and when you think at 10.30pm it'll be quietening down, you'd be very wrong. One tent had loud music going until 3.30am, one tent were having a full blown domestic at 4.30am. It seemed pointless even trying to get a little bit of sleep!

Officially the worst nights sleep, and the most overpriced campsite (for facilities) I've been on.

Polubione Site was in a beautiful location, close to lovely villages and sites like the Ingleton waterfalls trail. The owner was friendly and helpful. My son really loved the playground and the opportunity to play with lots of other kids there. The live music at the pub both nights was a really nice touch.

Niepolubione This is a new site, so I appreciate there may be some teething issues. The site seemed overbooked - the numbered pitches weren't allocated so something of a free for all. A number of tents and caravans parked in non official pitches. One side of the pitch (which we were on) is on a slope, although it wasn't really a big issue.
We did however have a significant issue with noise on the first night, at 11.30pm there were still a good number of camps playing very loud music. By 1.30pm the tent next door (who'd been getting drunk at the pub) started shouting and swearing, having a full on domestic (in addition to loud music I'd already asked them to switch off). This blew up again at 3.30am, meaning we only got a few hours sleep, it was so bad I nearly called the police. Luckily our 5 year old is a heavy sleeper, but his pal two tents down was woken by it and was very distressed. Far from ideal on what is billed as a 'family site'.
I spoke to the owner who was apologetic and said others had complained, he gave us a free drink and assured me the family were leaving that day. The site was much quieter overall that night.
He said they were new to all of this, so I guess still learning. I do think there is a duty to have be some policing of sites in terms of noise nuisance (as there are on other sites we have stayed at) late at night, but my sense is they were overwhelmed and spread thinly running the pub at the same time. I appreciate that this instance of the dysfunctional family was likely to be out of the ordinary and we were unlucky. If you were at the other end of the site you probably wouldn't have heard it.
We were surprised there was only one shower and toilet, given there were 50 pitches and more camping in the middle, it's not adequate. Granted you did have access to the pub toilets 7.30am till 11pm. They were also cleaned each morning.

I think with a few tweaks (additional showers, more enforcing of the rules around noise - there was a notice up on the site but very unobtrusive, many would have missed this), not overbooking, it could be a really good site. My son had a blast.
