You'll be able to get a proper digital detox here in Limpopo province, renowned for its spectacular natural wonders and abundant wildlife, and overlooking the river that marks the border with Botswana. With its untamed terrain providing an exciting backdrop for all sorts of safari activities, Mmabolela is well equipped for bush retreats that cater for the whole family. When holidaying here, do as much or as little as you like… chill out with river views, take a dip in the riverside plunge pool, spend leisurely hours in the sun and stargaze under clear skies at night, or get set for days of hikes, mountain biking and game drives. No-frills facilities accompanying the tree-shaded camping pitches include a communal firepit, a shared camping kitchen and washing-up sinks, plus a simple shower block.

With no lions, elephants, rhinos or buffalo at Mmabolela, it is safe for walking, running, horse riding or mountain-biking adventures on tracks for all abilities around the estate. Go quietly to get an up-close look at the animals and birdlife – or hang out at one of the waterholes to see which animals turn up. Head out on a four-wheel drive game safari whenever you wish – early morning or at sundown, you stand a good chance of spotting wildlife on Mmabolela’s private bushland. While you’re exploring the far-flung corners of this private reserve, the local residents will hopefully turn up too – from eland and zebras to giraffes, waterbucks, warthogs plus many more. Just to up the adrenaline levels, there are a few animals of the carnivorous variety here: jackal, civet, brown hyena, and even a resident leopard or two. Don’t worry, though, these are mostly nocturnal animals. However, strict park rules are in place for good reason, so guests are asked to stick to them to stay safe.
