First priorities upon arriving at your chosen site? Giving the kids a chance to run around a bit? A nice dip in the pool? A cool drink, perchance? Well, certainly not sorting out the setup of somewhere to sleep anyway… If this sounds about right, you’ll likely appreciate a stay at Juliette Tentvakanties at Camping Klein Canada, a family-friendly Limburg site a few minutes’ walk from the shops and cafés of Afferden. Rental tents are already set up and waiting here, leaving you simply to dump your bags and go in search of any of the aforementioned requirements. Small sorts screaming to let off steam? Usher them over to the playground or the bouncy castle. Swim times on your mind? Take your pick of the pools – one indoors and the other an open-air number with waterslides and a paddling pool. Beyond all these there’s also a tennis court, a fishing pond, a small petting farm and a busy schedule of activities, sports and evening events for tinies, teens and grownups through the summer months. And if it was those chilled treats you were dreaming of? Hotfoot it to the Canadian themed café for milkshakes, ice creams and burgers, or settle at the Grand Café for drinks and snacks (along with evening entertainment in high season). When it comes time to knock up your own meals, each tent has its own kitchen area; pick up supplies at the site shop or the supermarkets 10 minutes’ drive away in Boxmeer.

Lokale attraksjoner

Kick off your hols with a few lungfuls of fresh air – the site is on the edge of the Maasduinen National Park, giving guests easy access to the walking trails and bike paths that run through the woods and dunes. Keep your eyes open as you roam – badgers, snakes and foxes are among the wildlife you might spot at ground level, with at least 100 species of birds flying overhead. Further wanders in the area might take you to Kasteeltuinen Arcen gardens (20 minutes’ drive), Helmond castle (40 minutes) or an arty amble around the Van Gogh Village in Nuenen (45 minutes). If the day turns out to be a tad damp, turn your attentions to the Overloon War Museum (20 minutes) or escape to Eindhoven (50 minutes) for the Philips Museum, DAF Museum and a brewery visit. If that’s all too much meandering and museum-ing for the mini members of the family, ramp up the fun levels with outings to Billy Bird Park amusement park or Toverland theme park, both about half an hour away. Critter spotting at Dierenrijk zoo (50 minutes) is a popular pick too, especially if you can time your trip for feeding time.
