Procida Camp and Resort - La Caravella

Discover the gentle charms of Procida with a wander past pastel-coloured houses lining cobbled streets; aim for the village of Marina di Corricella (20 minutes’ walk) to discover 17th-century fishermen’s cottages and stop by the Baroque-era church of Santa Maria delle Grazie Incoronata to admire its frescoed dome and four gilded altars. Once you’ve got your Procida bearings, a day at the beach is called for. The famed sandy expanse of Chiaia Beach is five minutes’ walk, or you can spend time at quiet, black-sand beach Cala del Pozzo Vecchio, where scenes from ‘Il Postino’ were filmed. In the late afternoon, head for Chiaiolella Beach (both five minutes’ drive) to catch a spectacular sunset overlooking neighbouring Ischia. Organise a day trip to Ischia (15 minutes by hydrofoil) to see the imposing medieval Castello Aragonese on its rocky crag surrounded by sea. Back on Procida, set sail for Naples (40 minutes by ferry) and get your fill of art and history in its major-league museums. If you have the time, visit the ancient Roman ruins of Pozzuoli (half an hour by bus from Naples).
