Camping Parc Verger

Likte What a lovely little site. We originally booked for 3 nights then added another night. Would have stayed longer but we had to make our way back up France for ferry and needed to break journey with another site.
Site is very tidy with well spaced pitches. We were in a tent and we had a fabulous grassy pitch with some shade from trees. The site was quiet when we were there. It is currently managed by Colin who was great. Kind, helpful and really knowledgeable about the different types of site seeing around the area. Even gave us a leaflet on places of interest and travel time guide. A really helpful little extra.
We visited Richard the Lionheart’s Castell de Châlus-Chabrol & also the must see trip to the Martyrs village at d’Oradour sur Glane. Must say a thank you to the fabulous Rosemary too for keeping the loos/shower block/dish washing area immaculately clean. Facilities are currently small but plans to be made bigger and modernised in future.The is also a lovey little pizzeria type restaurant a short walk down into the quiet village.

Likte ikke We were disappointed the on site restaurant was closed but this was explained to us that that’s because the site had recently been sold and the new owners will be sorting this as well as site updates of new pool etc in due course. We still enjoyed have a pre dinner drink at bar. Site was very quiet so we got to enjoy chatting to Colin & his wife.

Likte Matt and Kim were wonderful hosts at the campsite. Every morning and Evening they would and see if you are ok or needed anything.

Likte Tranquil ambience and clean spacious environment. Pretty countryside in an understated, quiet part of France. Some lovely villages and medieval towns within close proximity as well as some well appointed and charming lakes. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly.

Likte On arrival warden straight there and sorted us big pitch only ones on site as people on the bigger routes pictures do not do justice to a fantastic little site with overground pool and new bar opening soon and new washing machine and dryer installed nic ex railway path fir bikes as well . warden really was so helpfull and nothing too much trouble will definately be back if passing that way

Likte Lovely man welcomed us and was very up beat. Having a heater in shower area.

Likte ikke Only one shower ( it wasn’t a problem as we were the only people in the campsite, but can imagine it would be a problem once there are a few. Flooring in toilets showers isn’t adequate. We didn’t need to use washing machines but am guessing that the new owners were using them and didn’t take they laundry out while we were on site. Just felt it was in need of some TLC.

Likte Lovely gentleman told us to come straight in and setup and he would see us later on in the evening, clean site, clean utilities, lovely hot showers, washing machine and drier, amazing place, dead quiet, definitely will be back.

Likte ikke The restaurant was closed said there was a cafe which only served hot and cold drinks when asked the pool had a closed sign on as soon as I complained to pitch up he took the sign down very convenient the toilets where very tired and the washing machine was broken we didn’t stay are full stay we moved on four days before we should have as we was the only one there and found the site depressing obviously as he’s trying to sell it as he is no longer with his partner he isn’t interested in the upkeep

Fra bestyreren: Thank you for your comments which we find helpful. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. I would like to clarify a few points:-

As i had to attend my mothers funeral in UK I was away from Wednesday until Saturday I left the site under the supervision of a temporary warden who was in constant communication with me while i was in UK

On the evening i left there was a lightening storm which knocked out the power for a short time in the toilet block which was reset by my temporary warden immediately unfortunately the coin boxes for the washing machine and tumbler dryer needed re-programming as the boxes defaulted to 1€ for 1 minute of time and i did not want guests to be inconvenienced by this. As i was away and the reprogramming was outside the temporary wardens range of knowledge, i gave instructions for an out of order sign to be placed on the machine and i would re-programme the coin boxes on my return.

The restaurant was open for drinks but not food as the Cook( my wife) had recently left the business and i do not cook. This was explained to you on your arrival.
The pool was and still is available and as you stated the other guests who were there when you arrived had departed and as the site had 3 guests during the few days of your stay the pool was available on request.

I would like to question your opinion that i am not interested in the upkeep of the site and can assure you the fact that my wife has left and the Campsite is for sale has no bearing to my commitment to Parc Verger. In fact it is to the contrary.

A true and more accurate representation of the service and facilities that we provide at Parc Verger can be seen on all the other reviews not only through pitchup.com but also on many other platforms over the ten years i have been here.

I hope this clarifies the situation and i am sorry that you felt strongly enough to issue this review.
