This family-friendly site is in a mighty handy spot for all sorts of outings and adventures – hiking trails start a few minutes away, or you can rent mountain bikes for pedalling days. Several gorgeous châteaux are within a half-hour drive, and it's 15 minutes from here to warm wallows in the thermal waters of La Roche-Posay. Life’s essentials are pretty sorted too: local shops are a kilometre away in the little village of Barrou, and there’s a bigger supermarket 20 minutes away in Châtellerault.
And there’s even better news for folks who like to fish: guests in possession of the relevant permits (available in the local bakery when you pop in for your croissants) are welcome to fish in the river, and there’s also a one-hectare permit-free lake on site. Not managed to cart your kit along? No matter – rods are available to borrow.
Other facilities on site include a heated outdoor pool and paddling pool, table tennis, kids’ games and a fab four pétanque courts on which to flex your bowling arm. Staff also draw the small sorts together for activities and games during summer stays.

Lokale attraksjoner
Folks flock from all around to the fab Futuroscope theme park, 40 minutes away – if you’d ever fancied seeing a film in 4D this is the place for you (there are only a few around, after all). Rides, shows and play areas galore make it a cinch to fill a day here.
For other nipper-pleasing days out, pack your petrolheads into the car for the 25-minute journey to the Auto Moto Velo motor museum in Châtellerault, head into the trees to clamber along the ropes and wooden walkways at Aven’Thuré adventure park (35 minutes away) or go in search of big beasts at Beauval Zoo (an hour away).
Château visits are an essential ingredient in many folks’ hols around these parts, so set forth for Château de la Guerche (10 minutes’ drive), Château des Ormes (25 minutes) or Château d’Angles-sur-l’Anglin (half an hour). If all that château strolling leaves you a little shattered, head back to base via the spa town of La Roche-Posay (15 minutes away).
