There's rather a lot to do on site at Camping Spineuse Neufchâteau too (including for the dog: this friendly place is fully animal friendly and has dog-walking paths). Kids have a big playground with trampolines to bound around at; there's free wifi for teens and the digitally minded, and active types can plunge into the pool, hit a ball around the tennis courts and sports fields, or hike into the forest on one of the trails leading from the site.
More? There's a fishing pond here too, filled with carp for anglers, and more angling available in the rivers around the site. If you're on hol with junior adventurers, the fishing pond also has an island which the intrepid can paddle out to for campfire building.
And if 'lots to do on holiday' doesn't equate to wielding barbecue tongs or slaving over a bubbling saucepan? The family team have eats and drinks fully covered too, with regular barbecue evenings in summer and a cosy bistro and suntrap terrace serving ice cream, Belgian beer, dinners, snacks, and steak so acclaimed people come for it from miles around.
Fresh bread and daily newspaper sales are also on site; for more supplies, the Luxembourg Province municipality of Neufchâteau is a couple of kilometres away.

Camping Spineuse Neufchâteau is deep in the Belgian Ardennes, 30 kilometres from the French border and 50 from Germany and Luxembourg. You can ditch the car for your whole stay if you want to stay local, heading out on the hiking trails from the site and the cycling paths in the surrounding forest. The woods immediately around the site have animal enclosures housing chinchillas, goats, sheep and donkeys.
Also have an amble into Neufchâteau, for a sightseeing day around its rural life museum and medieval castle remnant the Griffin tower. Just outside town, Lake Neufchâteau is a scenic spot and watersports centre, with windsurfing, fishing, rowing, canoeing and pedalo boating.
Days out for drivers include the bison farm and Ardennes ’44 museum at Bastogne (25 minutes), falconry shows at 10th-century Bouillon Castle (35 minutes), and a day at Belgium's smallest town Durbuy, just over an hour away.
