Tucked away in its own small garden, it’s surrounded by rural farmland and is about five minutes’ walk from the crescent-shaped sweep of Maidens Beach.
Behind its bijou wooden facade, the compact interior is kitted out with style, comfort and simplicity, cleverly blending the traditional shape of a shepherd’s hut with modern conveniences like a fridge and kettle in the kitchen corner. The thoughtful design makes good use of wood-panelled walls, warm lighting and cosy furnishings for a welcoming, homely vibe, and that’s helped along by a woodburner to keep everybody toasty warm during all seasons.
There’s a snug double bed – all linen is provided – and restful sleep is all but guaranteed as you’re surrounded by the quiet of the farm. All you’re likely to hear is the sound of birdsong and the occasional tractor chugging past. And what’s more, the hut is right in the middle of green fields, so you can enjoy the fresh coastal air and lovely views to the Irish Sea while sipping a morning coffee, or relish quiet times under the glittering stars on clear nights.

Then Maidens Beach (five minutes’ walk) is the spot for you; this peaceful, sandy stretch is ideal for a stroll, a picnic or simply enjoying the views over the Firth of Clyde – and the sunsets can be stunning. While you’re out and about, have a wander down to the harbour at Maidens (20 minutes) and keep a look out for seals basking on rocks along the way.
For longer forays on foot, the Ayrshire Coastal Path (five minutes) leads north along the shoreline to Culzean Castle and Country Park (40 minutes). This imposing 18th-century fortress has clifftop views, extensive gardens and woodlands to explore, and there are guided tours of the opulent castle interior.
To up the adrenaline levels a bit, you can discover the coastline on horseback from the local riding school (half an hour), or if golf is the game for you, the courses at Trump Turnberry are 10 minutes’ drive away.
