Likte ikke the longer I was there the more cramped I felt, especially when there was a management failure and ended up with 3 seperately booked tents sharing the pitch next to me and overlapping onto mine. This was discussed with the manager when it seemed to be happening again the following night... still friendly but for some reason not on site at these points so failed to see the problem developing

Likte My husband and I (and our dog) loved our stay here, the location is amazing and the views from the campsite are quite breathtaking. At night I got up to go to the loo and to my delight the sky was crystal clear and I saw thousands of stars and the northern lights!
The owner is friendly and helpful, there’s a fab communal area with tables and chairs and cooking facilities, shower and toilets. The shower and toilets are built up against a cliff so feel quite rustic, but we thought they were great.
If you like wild swimming, kayaking etc or if you’re just looking for a chilled, relaxing stay with gorgeous views this is the place for you.

Likte Location is fantastic and I am sure the new manager will make the campsite worthy of it. At the moment the facilities are basic but that being said we loved it and would consider coming back for sure!

Likte ikke The parking situation - not enough space and the campsite became covered in vehicles.
Pitches are wayy too close together, we were literally pegging our guy ropes in between the guy ropes of the tent next door (guy ropes were needed as it was so windy!) and the sea of cars took away from the ‘wild camp’ feeling.
To many people squeezed into small spaces - one ‘pitch’ is literally an uneven grass verge next to the main track. Great if you like cooking your dinner on the floor whilst cars, people and dogs go right by…

We’re sorry the site felt busier than you were hoping for. We are a small, informal campsite rather than a wild-camping site, and guests are generally able to park beside or close to their tents. Inevitably, when people choose to park immediately alongside their pitches, cars will be visible around the camping areas.

We were a little surprised by the comment about the trackside pitch, as this wasn’t the pitch you booked or stayed on. We have a range of pitches across the site, with different characteristics, and not every pitch is intended to offer exactly the same experience. It therefore seems slightly unfair to criticise the site based on a pitch you weren’t actually using.

There is also a large covered communal area with tables specifically provided for cooking, eating and spending time out of the weather, so nobody is required to prepare their dinner on the ground beside the track. Presenting that as an unavoidable part of staying here is a little misleading.

We do take the point about spacing seriously and will continue to keep an eye on how pitches are laid out at busy times. That said, in very windy conditions tents naturally require more extensive guying-out, and neighbouring campers’ choices about tent position, guy lines and where they park their vehicles can all affect how spacious an area feels.

Ultimately, we’re a small, popular campsite in a beautiful location which you booked to stay at during the height of the summer season. We completely understand that some people are looking for something closer to remote wild camping, but that is always going to be a rather different experience from staying on a serviced campsite with toilets, showers, hot water and vehicle access!

Just to clarify for future visitors, we don’t currently advertise or provide a chemical toilet disposal point on site. We appreciate that having one would be useful for some campervan and caravan guests, though, and it’s something we’ll keep under consideration as the campsite develops although it does pose significant planning and developement challenges in our remote rural location!

Likte ikke No chemical disposal toilet facilities. Given the problems with campervan waste disposal in Scotland I think this needs remedying. We try and stay on sites to support the local economy and also so that we can use proper waste disposal.

Fra bestyreren: Thanks for the feedback. We completely understand the importance of responsible campervan waste disposal and agree that proper provision is useful.

We don’t currently have a chemical toilet disposal point, and importantly we don’t advertise that we do. Both our Pitchup listing and our own website make clear which facilities are available before guests choose to book. As a remote rural campsite on a private waste system, adding chemical disposal is considerably more complicated than simply connecting a new disposal point to a mains sewer.

We’re only in our first season running the campsite and are looking carefully at what additional facilities we can sustainably add as we improve the site. Chemical waste disposal is something we’ll keep under consideration, although providing it here would require significant investment as well as discussions with the relevant environmental and planning authorities.

We do have to admit that we were disappointed to receive a 5/10 overall rating, and particularly 3/10 for our facilities, principally because we don't provide a facility which we explicitly state we don't have. We absolutely welcome criticism where something we've advertised hasn't been provided or isn't up to scratch, but we don't think that's quite the situation here.

If chemical waste disposal was an essential requirement for your stay, then unfortunately we probably weren't the right campsite for your particular needs. We would genuinely appreciate it if you might reconsider whether the rating fairly reflects the facilities and experience that you actually booked and received.

We are glad you enjoyed the views and being down by the sea, though, and thank you for staying with us.

Likte the location of the place, the friendliness of the staff

Likte ikke There are certainly many guests who will love this place. Unfortunately, it's not for us. Very hippie-like, too many dogs running loose, rudimentary showers, dirty toilets, toilet paper is rarely replenished, damp pitches. Anyone who doesn't mind all that will find an interesting place in a beautiful location.

Fra bestyreren: Thanks for the feedback, Heiko, and I’m really sorry that parts of the site weren’t up to scratch during your stay.

In particular, the toilet paper situation was embarassing for us. We’re a pretty remote campsite and had been waiting on a consignment that the courier repeatedly assured us was going to arrive, but unfortunately it didn’t make it here in time. That’s not an excuse from your point of view though, and we’re genuinely very sorry you were affected by it.

We’ve only recently taken over the campsite and inherited facilities that need quite a bit of work. We already have improvements planned for the loos and showers, including work intended to make them much easier to keep properly clean and maintained going forward. We also intend to work on the drainage over the winter and improve that, too.

We’re glad you enjoyed the location and found the staff friendly, and we do appreciate you taking the time to leave useful feedback. We know there’s plenty still to improve and we’re working hard on it. Hopefully one day you'll come back and see the improvements across the site and feel able to leave a more positive review.

Fair comment on the tents feeling a little close together. We’re still finding the right balance with the layout after taking the site on this year, and feedback like this is genuinely useful. We’ve got plenty of space here, so it’s something we can improve as we refine the pitches.
