Likte The views were stunning. The shower was hot. It was really quiet on the site as there were only 4 pitches taken- mid October. Saw an otter playfully rolling in the sea.

Likte ikke The facilities were quirky and no hot water to wash in. 😦 It would have been preferable to have a basin inside the loo cubicle- for a private wash. Dishwashing facility needs hot water and really needs to be bigger. We were in a van and there was hard standing, but the tent pitches were sodden, albeit this is October, probably a stretch to offer tent pitches through the winter months as drainage is poor( evidence of some work ongoing). Pitches appear to be really cramped if site were at full capacity, only suitable for small tents it would appear.

Likte Stunning site with a lovely off-the-beaten-track atmosphere. It's a perfect location if you like wild swimming, kayaking, exploring archaeology, hiking into the wilderness, or just sitting there and enjoying the sound of seabirds, water lapping by your feet, and the wind in the trees (and mistaking seaweed for otters). Others have already mentioned basic facilities and a problem with pitches becoming waterlogged. Jamie and his crew have only recently taken on the site and while I was there, great strides were being made to improve drainage (I witnessed the very quick transformation during my week there), and there are plans to improve facilities too. I was very privileged to be there while the temporary bar was open. I dearly hope this will become a permanent feature as there were a steady flow of locals coming to check it out, all of whom were very welcoming and lovely to talk with. I have made some very good friends during my stay, and hope to return soon. The sauna and rain-shower are a brilliant new addition. When the weather is bad (often), there is a great barn with a fridge, kettle, sofas, and washing lines to dry your kit on.

Likte ikke As mentioned above, facilities are relatively basic, but should not put you off if you are a seasoned camper. There is only the one shower at the moment, and although it works well, it will be chilly in the winter months and perhaps in too much demand if the campsite is full.

Likte Good basic campsite. Views were amazing. Food at the new on-site al fresco dining facility (when available) was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Very peaceful and loved this pitch.

Likte ikke What put me off was the sinks to do your dishes in. They were dirty and more like a small basin than a sink. There was also no hot water only cold.

The shower which there was only one was dirty not ideal so only had one shower during my stay.

Definitely needs updated.

Likte ikke the longer I was there the more cramped I felt, especially when there was a management failure and ended up with 3 seperately booked tents sharing the pitch next to me and overlapping onto mine. This was discussed with the manager when it seemed to be happening again the following night... still friendly but for some reason not on site at these points so failed to see the problem developing

I’m sorry about the overcrowding around your pitch. It was an unusually busy time, and unfortunately a number of guests pitched outside the areas they had been allocated, which caused a problem we hadn’t anticipated.

As a small, fairly informal campsite we don’t have someone permanently stationed on site, although I’m always contactable and dealt with this when it was brought to my attention. I’m sorry that it affected your stay before we were able to get on top of it.

We’ve learned from it and will be marking out the individual pitches much more clearly for next season. We’d hoped to avoid too much formal delineation and retain the open, rustic feel of the site, but it’s clear that we need to make the pitch boundaries more obvious when we’re busy.

Likte My husband and I (and our dog) loved our stay here, the location is amazing and the views from the campsite are quite breathtaking. At night I got up to go to the loo and to my delight the sky was crystal clear and I saw thousands of stars and the northern lights!
The owner is friendly and helpful, there’s a fab communal area with tables and chairs and cooking facilities, shower and toilets. The shower and toilets are built up against a cliff so feel quite rustic, but we thought they were great.
If you like wild swimming, kayaking etc or if you’re just looking for a chilled, relaxing stay with gorgeous views this is the place for you.

We’re really glad you enjoyed the slightly wild and rustic nature of the place. We only took over the campsite this year and have lots of plans for improving the facilities and adding a few more things to do, while hopefully keeping exactly the relaxed, simple character you describe.

Really pleased you and your husband (and dog!) had such a good stay. We’d love to have you back.
