Grab your other half or pile the kids in the car – the pods at Hardrigg Hall Glamping make a fabulous base for all sorts of Cumbria holidays, whether it’s a family break or a rural escape for a couple. These smart and cosy pods are part of a historic farm on the edge of the Lake District National Park – so historic, in fact, that it’s even got its own medieval ruins attached to the farmhouse. It's still a working farm these days (so unfortunately dogs are not permitted on site) and it’s a highly peaceful spot for a bit of rural relaxation, with some gorgeous views out over the Cumbria countryside. You may well choose to spend a fair amount of time simply chilling out on site, but if you do feel like heading out, you’ll be pleased to hear that this is a very handy base for all sorts of outings around the northern part of the Lake District, including trips to Ullswater, Skiddaw, Keswick and Penrith. It's also easily accessible from the M6 (about 15 minutes away), making journeys in and out nice and straightforward. Each of the pods sleeps up to two adults and two children (in a double bed and sofa bed), and also has its own ensuite bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. Outside on the deck, a charcoal barbecue, firepit, outdoor seating and picnic table should help you make the most of your time out in the fresh air, taking in the views by day and the starry skies by night.

Camping-pod Bluebell

Likte We absolutely loved our 2-night stay in Bluebell Pod at Hardrigg Hall! It was the perfect little mini-break for me and my two little ones.

There was plenty to see and do in the local area, and the pod had everything we could possibly need. Check-in was super easy, and the views were just lovely. It was such a peaceful place to come back to and unwind after a busy day.

My son was especially happy with all the indoor and outdoor games provided, and he slept really well on the sofa bed. My daughter’s absolute favourite part of the trip was watching the cows come and go from the milking parlour twice a day from the decking!

We had such a lovely stay and would highly recommend Hardrigg Hall to anyone looking for a cosy, peaceful getaway. We’d love to come back!

Likte Lovely hosts, lovely location. Secluded spot on a working farm. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and the hosts really made them welcome looking round the farm and helping to feed the animals. The pod was well equipped, warm and cozy. The additional games and toys was a real winner

Likte There is nothing they hadn’t thought of. The kids had plenty of games to play, there was a lovely selection of biscuits and chocolates. We loved visiting the dairy cows being milked and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely week here with two children, there were sleeping bags and a comfortable pull out bed for them and plenty of pillows. It was a good base for lots of days out too.

Likte Everything was amazing. We lived the quietness of the accommodation. We were able to relax after long days of hiking. Cooking facilities were spot on. The shower was a welcome facility. Previous glamping did have toilet and shower in the pods. This is now a must. We will definitely go back.

Likte Amazing place! The pod was fully equipped with everything you need for holiday. Beautiful location-very quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed watching sunset and sunrise in peaceful environment. Amazing hot tub. Even made a friends with lovely farm dog and had a glimpse at farm life in the morning.
The host was very accommodating and caring. Really enjoyed our stay. Definitely will be coming back

Likte Quiet and secluded but close to amenities in Penrith. Pod was spacious enough to relax when not exploring the area

You won't have to travel far if you fancy a day out – the historic Hutton-in-the-Forest is only five minutes’ drive away for a tour of the house, a woodland walk and a wander around the walled gardens (followed by a tasty slice of cake in the tearooms). If historic estates or garden tours are your thing, you’ll also want to check out Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens (15 minutes’ drive) and Lowther Castle & Gardens (20 minutes). Meanwhile, if you’ve got kids to entertain, you may find the likes of Walby Farm Park (half an hour) and the exhibits or cinema showings at Rheged (15 minutes). And of course you’ll want to venture into the Lake District National Park at some point too, whether you’re here to scale Skiddaw and Helvellyn (both 35 minutes), see Aira Force waterfall (25 minutes) or take to the lake at Ullswater (25 minutes) for a boat trip or watersports day.
