What a lush site this is for gainful countryside holidays in the Lincolnshire countryside, whiling days away fishing, woodland walking and just lazing by the lakeside with open book or one's very own thoughts. There are animals too… Small and family-run Sunflower Park near Gainsborough has taken in quite a few rescue animals in their time (they're a friendly and welcoming lot here), so on site you'll meet the three family pets as well as some alpacas, several ex-battery hens and their strutting cockerel. Also adopted are a family of geese, ducks, Kunekune pigs and a couple of Gloucester old spots: do make sure to say hi to all. As you might guess, this is a relaxed and amiable site, set remotely and rurally on a five-acre plot that includes paddocks, a playground, open pastureland, a private woodland walk and a well-stocked fishing lake exclusively for guests' use. You might reckon the park's remote rural setting makes it a wildlife haven too, and you'd reckon right: its boundaries run directly into Laughton Forest's Tuetoes Wood, a Forestry Commission nature haven for walking and cycling among the trees, and home to wildlife like deer, foxes, owls, rabbits, jays, pheasants, cuckoos, woodpeckers – all within viewable and hearing distance from your pitch. Sunflower Park has toilets, showers, a drying room, a launderette and ice pack freezing. Firepits are available for hire for the whole of guests' stays and arrive full and ready to light. Please note that due to being in a forest location and on sandy ground, you will most likely come across spiders, ants, lizards, grass snakes, beetles etc. Please only book if you are comfortable with the fact that there will be wildlife around you.

Likte: Peaceful location by a lake and very rural.

Likte ikke: I didn’t enjoy watching the owner pelt the pigs with apples when he was feeding them. It was pretty distressing for both myself and my young son.

Fra bestyreren: The pigs were not deliberately getting 'pelted' with apples. We were shoveling windfall apples into their runs but this requires force to throw the apples distances that require them to go search for them. This provides enrichment and underpins natural behavior to search for food. The pigs start to run and chase apples when be start to throw them or launch them with the shovel. Some apples clearly hit the pigs but this is not the intention.. the intention is to stimulate the pigs and their natural behavior. Sorry if it was perceived negatively but if you would have spoken to us at the time then maybe this could have been clarified

Likte: Absolutely love this place, always get a warm welcome from Ian and Josie, toilets and showers are clean and plenty of hot water. love having the option to stroll over to the bar if you want to watch the football or have a chat and a few cheeky drinks, the shop always has whatever I’ve forgot to take lol. The animals are well cared for and we never got tired of walking round to see them all and we also enjoyed a bit of fishing (i caught more than the hubby) will definitely be back

Likte: Lovely site! Us and our 6 year old throughly enjoyed the whole weekend, good park with lots for the kids and feels safe to let the kids go and play without you having to constantly watch them so could have us time to sit and relax. So many animal to see and feed and so well looked after. Great pitch sizes, on site bar with a shop added bonus. The toilet and shower facilities aren’t the best we’ve had on a site but more than adequate. We throughly enjoyed our weekend and will be back

Likte: This place really is amazing fantastic for all the amazing staff the beautiful rescue animals ! Highly recommend and will defo be back! Not disappointed ! Jaxson loves it here and we will be back again! Little shop on site and food and bar lovely for a little quite escape

Likte: The site was lovely, right next to some lovely walks, had a children'spark on site. They have lots of rescue animals for guests to see and feed (supplied by owners at their shop). Lovely facilities and cafe/bar/shop. The owners Ian and Josie were so friendly and helpful. The staff were also friendly. Will rebook here again.

We had a lovely few days.... beautiful scenery and lovely wildlife as promised, even down to the little snake under our tent when we packed up this morning....kids were very excited. Walkers, hikers, cyclists, energetic runners and nature spotters have Tuetoes Wood right beside Sunflower Park, the Forestry Commission-managed and publicly accessible part of vast Laughton Forest. If you're an avid animal fan, take time to get to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park just outside Doncaster, home to a menagerie of over 300 from around the world, and to The Deep at Hull, one of the biggest aquariums in the UK and a habitat for over 3000 marine critters. Going south, history buffs can get to Lincoln for eleventh century Lincoln Cathedral, the third biggest in Britain after St Paul's in London and York Minster. Lincoln Castle is also well worth a look, to gaze geekily upon one of the four original remaining copies of the Magna Carta.
