Ik was blij met Small and quiet site, exactly what I was looking for. Warm welcome with info leaflet then given space. Walking distance into town and along canal to great cafe. Toilets are basic but clean.

Ik was niet blij met SIGNAGE: hard to see which way to go when I got closer, particularly as the gate to the farm was closed so I wondered whether there was a second one, specifically for campers, I was supposed to use and drove further along the lane - when the sides started to close in on me I realised my mistake and reversed very carefully! ELECTRICITY: the first post I tried to connect to didn't work at all so I connected to the next one - not a problem when so few campers were on site but couldn't have done that if it had been busier. This connection tripped out when I started cooking. Be aware there's a constant mechanical hum coming from the site next door - might be a problem if you're sensitive to such things.

Ik was blij met Small, pretty and quiet site. Pitch black and silent overnight making for a great night's sleep. Friendly greeting. Felt relaxed. Local info, walks, pubs etc in check in hub. Clearly signposted from main road. Impressive toilet/ shower rooms.

Ik was niet blij met Slightly scary approach roads - not their fault! Maybe signpost to Elsan disposal point a little more clearly?

Ik was niet blij met I drove past the entrance the first time as the sign was so easily missed. Some parts of the site look run down and uncared for - but perhaps they're your neighbours?

Ik was blij met lots to like - from the warm welcome to the comprehensive explanation of where everything is and how it all works, from the magnificent views to the barn owl that flew past as I was eating my breakfast The composting toilets didn't smell - or only of sawdust - and eco-friendly washing up liquid is provided. When the rain came in unexpectedly, I appreciated the covered area with hammocks and liked that there is a solar powered phone charger and that it is all off-grid. It's a small site but my neighbours, while close, were considerate. The only noise was from steam trains in the valley below. The location is brill, with lots to do and much of it walkable.

Ik was niet blij met It seems churlish to knock off a point given all the positives but the one thing that wasn't great is quite an important one: there are very few parts of the tent pitching field that are level ground. Even when I was the first person there and got free choice of the whole field, I struggled to find a completely flat area and the place I thought would be best still had me sliding downhill when I got into my sleeping bag.

Van de manager: Many thanks for the lovely review, it’s great to know that you enjoyed your stay and even had a close encounter from one of the barn owls! Regarding the site itself, the lower general camping area is undulating but does have flat areas within it, these tend largely to be towards the centre or South East of the field (lots of people seem to like pitching around the edge however which does tend to slope up a little). There are however a number of private pitches up the mown pathways that are flat as well as private for a small extra fee, these are bookable either direct from us in advance or on arrival if available.
