Ik was blij met Lovely site, overlooking Dunskey Castle and the sea. We were parked on a non electric grass pitch (I’d booked a gravel hand-standing, but the site changed this - as it hasn’t rained in a while, this was fine). Toilet block was up to date and clean. We walked along the old railway track into Portpatrick, which was an easy 15 minute walk. The site was busy, but it was quiet. The road leading to the site is winding, narrow and steep in sections. It’s also used by farm traffic. Not a problem for us, but be aware.

Ik was blij met Nice surroundings, lovely cafe and shop on site. Within walking distance of Falkland.

Ik was niet blij met We’d booked a ‘hard standing and grass pitch’, but that’s not what we got. We were pitched on grass. The ‘hard standing’ is a separate section for when there is heavy rain. It consisted, however, of tree bark thrown over mud, so would probably be worse in heavy rainfall! There is one shower in each toilet block and one in the disabled toilet. That’s just not enough for the size of the site. The toilets are used by the shop/cafe users during opening hours and weren’t cleaned in any of the time we were there. It might be worth closing the toilet block as the cafe closes and giving it a clean for the sake of the campers, who are paying a lot for not very much. It’s a shame, because with a little more thought and input this could be a great site.

Ik was blij met Large, well spaced out site on several levels. Bottom pitches overlook the river. Top pitches are tree lined. Despite there being a major cycling event on we weren’t disturbed at all by any noise or inconvenience. Owner checked on us personally to make sure all was okay. Facilities were very good, plentiful and clean. Loved that you didn’t have to keep pushing the shower button to keep it on! This is a site we’ll definitely return to.

Ik was niet blij met Aircraft noise, obviously not the fault of the site! Take offs started in the early hours. Without this the stay would have been perfect.

Ik was blij met Simple site, with electric hook-up and water at pitch, which is obviously being upgraded. Huge pitches! Friendly owner. Donkeys in the next field a huge plus! Road noise was minimal, especially at night. Pub nearby.

Ik was blij met Excellent pitch and facilities. Friendly owners. Two restaurants just outside site, both doing takeaway. This was our second visit, but not our last.

Ik was blij met Proximity to the pub, which serves great food, is dog friendly and very welcoming. Basic, but perfectly adequate, facilities. We didn’t use the shower, but it was there!

Ik was niet blij met The folk on both sides of us had fire pits burning all night and, as it was windy, our van ended up stinking of smoke. As the site was pretty full, I don’t think the amount of toilets and showers were really adequate, especially as there were a lot of tents. These two things might put us off staying again, especially at busy times.

Ik was blij met Warm welcome from the owner. The facilities were clean and adequate for the amount of campers on site. We pitched our camper on a fairly level part of the site and there was plenty of room for others to pitch on the level. The site does gently slope away in the middle, but levels out again at the bottom. We weren’t disturbed by road noise despite the main road being across the boundary hedge. Great free Wi-Fi too! A lovely well kept site that we intend to return to.

Ik was blij met A perfect retreat! Although the hut is located on a piece of land just up from the owner’s house, it is entirely private. We spent our time only meeting the owner at the start and end of our stay. The hut is perfectly supplied with a cooker, fridge and all the utensils etc you’d need. There’s a bbq outside too. All bedding and towels are provided. Basically, you’ve got everything you need apart from food. The hot tub was just amazing (once I’d calmed my pyromaniac husband down!) and we sat looking at the hills across the valley. The village is a ten minute walk away, with lovely independent shops and eateries. There’s no much not to love!

Ik was blij met This is a well maintained, well spaced out site with just a few pitches in a large acreage of land. The facilities are spotless and more than adequate for the amount of pitches. Each pitch has water and electricity. Most pitches are concrete pads, some good gravel. It’s handy for Stratford, Birmingham and surrounding areas. It takes 30 minutes to get to the NEC (better if you set the sat nav to avoid motorways and go via Balsall Common and Stonebridge Island). Owners are friendly and helpful. Pub is 15 minute walk away and a farm shop down the road.

Ik was blij met Well maintained site, near to access roads. Most pitches have a level concrete pad and all have electric and water. We stayed at the top of the site. There is road noise, but it’s not excessive and is probably less nearest to the entrance. The noise didn’t bother us.

Ik was blij met Adult only site. Amazingly quiet if you choose a pitch in the walled garden (site runs alongside an A-road) Pitches are fully serviced. Basic but perfectly adequate and clean facilities housed within main lodge building. Lovely woodland walks. Friendly and helpful owner.

Ik was niet blij met Toilets and showers were poorly lit. The solar lights didn’t seem to come on. A string of the lights you have across the site would be great trailer through the block.

Ik was blij met Beautiful site with spotless facilities which are cleaned regularly. Makes such a change to stay on a site where you’re not crammed in. Quiet, just birdsong and duck calls! Free Wi-Fi. Site owners very friendly but not intrusive. Just perfect really. Will definitely be back!

Ik was blij met Pub on site. Didn’t try other facilities, but have done in past. Geared up for families. Site clean.

Ik was niet blij met We were only offered a grass pitch via Pitch Up and understood these were suitable for motor homes as well as camper vans and tents. However these pitches were in the tent field and could only be accessed via a muddy chewed up track, not really suitable for a 3 ton motor home and it had been raining a lot prior to our arrival. We didn’t dare risk going onto the grass! Reception told us that hand standing touring pitches are available, but not on Pitch Up. We paid extra to move to one. Site accepts dogs on lead, but owners seemed to disregard this and dogs were being exercised off lead (balls thrown across pitches for retrieval, for example). This drove our own dog mad. Not really fair! Path to town was impassable due to deep mud and road into site isn’t really suitable for pedestrians or cyclists. Instructions to pitch could do with rewriting as they are a bit confusing.

Ik was blij met Quiet site with very friendly owners. Site is being gradually improved, with seating nooks and fire pits. Will be back!

Ik was blij met This is our second stay this year, travelling from Scotland! Proximity to Stoneleigh and NEC makes it great for us attending shows. Excellent facilities, more than adequate. You get used to the road noise, don’t worry too much about that. Will be back!
