As the coast is just five minutes by car or 15 minutes by bike, staying at this quiet spot means you’re all set for a fun-filled holiday surfer-style out on the waves.
The secluded hardstanding pitches for tourers are set in the grounds of an old farmhouse and bed-and-breakfast hostel. Just a small number of pitches are available, and unless you actively choose to mingle with fellow guests, your only companions are likely to be the neighbouring sheep, geese and chickens.
However, thanks to its peaceful location surrounded by mature trees, the farmhouse garden is a beguiling spot for spending an evening or two chatting with other people and swapping tales of your day’s adventures, so the chances are you’ll find yourself happy to do some mingling.
Facilities on site are simple – namely showers and toilets – but you’ll come across grocery stores, fast-food places and a whole host of restaurants in the centre of Norden (five minutes’ drive).

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
The historic town of Norden (five minutes’ drive or 20 minutes’ walk) is Amsterdam in miniature, with majestic churches, gabled houses and a scattering of windmills to nose around. There are trains, vintage carriages and steam engines aplenty at the Museum of the Coastal Railway of Ostfriesland and tea-related displays and ceremonies at the Ostfriesisches Teemuseum.
But most activities here relate to the sea, from the Seehundstation Nationalpark-Haus, where you can see rescued sea lions and seals swim freely in vast aquariums, to the wave pools and slides at Erlebnisbad Ocean Wave waterpark (both 10 minutes’ drive).
Norden and Norddeich (five minutes) together form one of the hottest spots for watersports on the Wadden Sea; you can have windsurfing and kitesurfing lessons, learn to stand up on a paddleboard or take to the waters in sailing dinghies. Depending on tide times, you can also swim off Strand Norddeich beach (10 minutes) or hike along the tidal flats.
