Watery times are all around Camping Les Étangs in the French countryside (you might have gathered that from the name...). It's a few kilometres from here to the sandy beaches of Binic-Étables-sur-Mer, and a mere 100-metre amble to two Ic Valley fishing ponds, filled with roach, carp, trench and trout.
Run by Lydie and Philippe, Les Étangs is a welcoming, family-friendly and quiet site, in Brittany's Côtes-d'Armor department near Lantic, within an hour of Cap Frehel and Saint-Malo . It's a peaceful green setting of trees and seasonal wild orchids, with grass pitches among trees, a warm vibe and room aplenty in which to run about.
Lydie and Philippe have set aside Mondays for organised events and activities, arranging the likes of pétanque tournaments, barbecues, dancing and karaoke for anyone who'd like to join in. But there's enough to keep you occupied at all times in any case: a heated pool with a waterslide; a playground; a ping pong table and volleyball and pétanque courts are all around for leisurely days.
Wifi is available free of charge and fresh bread can be ordered on site.

From Roscoff, take the N12 and follow directions to Lantic. Take the D4 and continue towards Binic. The campsite is right after the pond, on your right.
From St Brieuc, follow directions for Pordic and Binic. Take the D4 and continue for 3km.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
It's a few kilometres from here to the beach of Binic-Étables-sur-Mer, a long stretch of sand with a seawater pool, kids' area and a kids' summer beach club.
A watersports centre is also at Binic, so you can sort out lessons and kit hire along this sheltered and calm chunk of coast. (Board surfing here? Not so much, but the place is a breeze for kitesurfing, kayaking, canoeing and sailing, among spectacular uncrowded surroundings safely clear of rocks.) Kids aged five to seven are welcome to visit the centre to hear fishy tales about the local marine environment and find out about the young sailors' club.
Horse riding, along the beach or into the Ic Valley countryside, can be booked at the nearby pony club and riding school, or you could have a day among the 65-metre waterslide, hot tub, paddling pool and sauna of the local public pool. Families should also like a day at ZooParc de Trégomeur and its Land of Asia, within 10 minutes' drive.
Brittany highlights are easily visited from here, such as Cap Fréhel (45 minutes' drive), Saint-Malo or Perros-Guirec, both an hour away, and Mont St-Michel, Brest and Vannes, all within an hour and a half.
