Fancy yourself a stay right on an Adriatic beachfront? Better get those bags packed and arrive with your beach sandals already on at Bi-Village in Istria. Opposite the Brijuni Islands, this large, modern site has its very own crystal-clear beach, allowing its guests to get stuck into watersports without so much as setting foot off the site… Not that stepping away from the site is something you’ll want to hold off on doing, as the location of Bi-Village is very spectacular indeed. First of all, the city of Pula, lined with beaches, bars, restaurants and Roman ruins, is just a 10-minute drive away. Secondly, the fishing village of Fažana is just a 25-minute walk away from the site, where sardine lunches, ferries to the Brijuni Islands and wanders around the Church of Sts. Cosmas and Damian are some of the go-to activities. Drive further up the coast, and you’ll pass stunning coves, pinewoods and so many seafood restaurants you might lose count. There’s also somewhere to eat back on site, a restaurant with international and traditional dishes (followed by picking up dessert at the on-site ice cream place). Also on site is a mini market and a shop stocked with camping essentials, newspapers and sportswear (you may need that last one for the gym that's also on site for guests to use). When you’re not busy eating or wading in the beach shallows, head to the on-site swimming pool for a paddle before reclining on a sunlounger (book in hand, if you so wish). During the high season, the number of on-site pools goes up to three. The school holidays also bring a lively entertainment schedule, sports tournaments and a kids’ club, so there's plenty going on for families.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

First, make your way to the little fishing village of Fažana (25 minutes’ walk). If you fancy it, ferries will whisk you over to the beaches and Roman ruins of the 14 Brijuni Islands (and while you're there, make sure to keep your eyes out for the island’s many dinosaur prints). Otherwise, stay in the village to sample the local seafood or take a look at its 15th-century Gothic church. The city of Pula (10 minutes' drive) should keep you entertained non-stop too, with its busy harbour, beaches and Roman ruins including the Temple of Augustus, the Pula Citadel and the Arch of the Sergi. It even has subterranean tunnels, the Zerostrasse, originally built as war shelters in the early 1900s. Up north is Rovinj (35 minutes), with houses and tight cobbled streets packed along a headland. You’ll surely want to get the camera out for that one.
