The Bodorgan Estate, on the south-western coast of Anglesey, has been passed down from generation to generation since the 1300s. If you fancy a slice (or at least a nibble…) of its centuries-long history, consider staying here during your next visit to the island. On the estate, Cnwc Campsite is just the spot for those who are after the vibe of wild camping experience – with the occasional amenity thrown in (more on those in a minute). Grass pitches sit on an 11-acre field, and while there’s no electricity hook-up, what you will get are splendid views of the coastline, spectacular sunsets and direct access to a couple of sandy beaches for your early-morning wild swims. Porth Trecastell is about 10 minutes’ walk away, though if you are lugging a canoe or a windsurfing board, you might prefer to drive (there is a small car park). Porth Nobla is a little bit farther (about half a mile away) and is another cool spot for kayaking and surfing. Good news: dogs are allowed at both beaches. There are also epic walks to be had on the Anglesey Coastal Path and a golf course at Rhosneigr (five minutes’ drive), which is the nearest village for your shopping and dining out needs. And what are the amenities that elevate Cnwc above other wild camping sites? Well, in addition to composting toilets, there are showers, a washing-up area and a barbecue station; plus, in the site’s ‘leave no trace’ spirit, there are recycling points.

Deze camping heeft een geweldige kustlocatie, op loopafstand van mooie stranden met prachtig uitzicht op zee. Gasten prezen de ruime plekken en het vriendelijke ontvangst. Faciliteiten zijn basic, maar schoon. Sommigen misten warm water en er waren opmerkingen over toiletonderhoud en de hoogte van de wastafels. Ideaal voor een back-to-basics kampeerervaring.

Ik was blij met fantastic location and stunning views, easy walk to the beach and coastal footpath.
lots of space so didnt feel crowded
we cant comment on the facilities as we were in a motorhome.

Ik was blij met Great location with amazing views wherever you park up on the site.
Walking distance to the beautiful beaces (which are dog friendly) coastal path & Rhosneigr , also the beachside sauna.

You may be put off by the quirky outdoor cold showers & compost toilets but dont be facilities are great.

Ik was blij met Views, location.

Ik was niet blij met Absolute rip off considering lack of facilities. Granted it's advertised as wildcamping but £35 for a field and a cold outdoor shower is a joke. Nobody appeared to be working there either. I have just payed the exact same price over at Rutland Water for full facilities that were modern and clean. I would stay here again for £15 but the current asking price is not anywhere near reflective of actual value.

Ik was blij met The location and the scenery are amazing! Walking distance to some brilliant, dog friendly beaches.

Ik was niet blij met The composting toilets!!! It was a busy weekend and there is absolutely nothing to educate people on the hygienic use. You need a laminated poster on the outside of every single door! Most people aren't used to them and just don't know how to use them and they stank because people were standing to pee, mixing liquids with solids and drenching the toilet seat and wooden surrounds in the process. They were also putting toilet paper in the liquids trap and blocking it up causing it to flood under proper use. Also, after a day swimming in the sea or out walking it is nice to have a hot shower! I didn't mind the outdoor communal aspect of them and I didn't mind a cold shower to wake myself up in the morning, but trying to get clean and wash the sweat and grease off in cold water isn't pleasant.

Ik was blij met Close to the beach and really spacious, host seemed friendly enough on the way in and it was ideal to have somewhere to wash your pots.

Ik was niet blij met Toilets- more on me really for not reading the description properly but composting toilets were a bit rustic for me.

Ik was blij met The most stunning scenery and 5 mins from the beach.. cold showers were actually really refreshing. Really lovely people running the site - would definitely visit again!

Also the live music and pizza at Sawna Bach (10 min walk along the beach) over summer is a game changer!

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

At the westernmost tip of Anglesey is Holyhead (20 minutes’ drive), where a maritime museum explores the area’s seafaring heritage. Exhibits include artefacts from a submarine that sank in 1939 and other local shipwrecks, plus lifeboat models. At Holyhead Marina, it’s possible to arrange a fishing charter. Dozens of vintage cars and motorbikes (plus tractors) are on display at Anglesey Transport Museum (20 minutes), which happens to be another dog-friendly site (just keep your canine buddy on a short lead). And if the kids get restless while you marvel at all the retro engines, you can direct them to the large outdoor playground. There are more than 40 tanks with seahorses, jellyfish, urchins and other British marine life at Anglesey Sea Zoo and Marine Resource Centre (25 minutes), while Pili Palas Nature World (25 minutes) is the place to see butterflies, lizards and meerkats, plus farmyard animals.
