Well, history aficionados, here’s one for you. Presaddfed is a quiet and remote wild campsite set next to the remains of ancient Neolithic chamber tombs. And nature lovers should gather round too, because this site is also close to woodland walks where you might – just might – get to spot red squirrels. As this family-friendly spot is based on a secluded working farm near Bodedern on Anglesey, it’s also a given that you’ll wake up to an abundance of birdsong and livestock grazing in the next-door fields. Bodedern village (20 minutes’ walk) has a renowned butcher’s shop, a handy late-opening convenience store and a pub. If you’d like to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be paddling in the sea at Trearddur Bay beach in 15 minutes, or hiking in Snowdonia in 45 minutes. Want to try something new? There’s clay pigeon shooting (five minutes’ walk) close by on Saturday and Wednesday, and adrenaline-thumping zipwires over water at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (40 minutes’ drive). Back at base, the well-equipped amenities block has four private shower rooms, toilets and washing-up facilities; otherwise you’re pretty much left to your own devices. There’s only one rule: this is a peaceful spot and the owners would like to keep it that way, so please, no music or loud noise after 9.30pm.

Ik was blij met Lovely clean toilets and showers, the site was excellent. Kids loved the communal games and the fairy garden.

Ik was niet blij met Nothing the site was perfect for what we wanted.

Ik was blij met Lovely surroundings, immaculate shower and toilets, really friendly and helpful staff, we enjoyed the giant chess and fairy glen, lots of space onsite, and close to supermarkets. Noticed there were charging ports, for those with non electric

Ik was niet blij met We had a grass and gravel pitch, and the grass area was rock solid, very bumpy and cracked, massive holes etc… It wasn’t sloped which was good, but very uncomfortable underfoot/to sit on

Ik was blij met This is my first camping experience, and I'm glad I picked this place as my first campsite. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities were all spotless, and the water was clear as anything. The owner is friendly and has a fairly relaxed attitude to things like fires and where to pitch.

Lovely site would definitely book again.

Ik was blij met The toilet/shower block is exceptional. Really well thought out and very clean. Well spaced electric pitches that can take tent or van. Great fire pits and wood available. The kids loved the Fairy Glenn and generally were able to play safely around the site.

Ik was niet blij met Really only the material that the hard standing is made from. Just very dirty as it’s black.

Great site, good location, good facilities and friendly staff!

Ik was blij met Lovely site, really nice modern facilities. Owners were very helpful, we extended the bank holiday and ended up being the only people on site for the night. Mark checked in with us to let us know that and then the morning staff had a chat too. Lovely central location on the island. Really well spaced pitches too.

Ik was niet blij met The timer on the showers could do with being a bit longer (double?), but that's only because it was a nice shower so not really a complaint

Ik was blij met Really friendly place and lots of space for kids to play. They have a little shop that serves coffee and logs for fires. Firepits are available too. And there's a Fairy Glen!

Ik was blij met Our first time staying at Presaddfed but definitely won't be our last time. Beautiful area, great shower /toilet blocks , great little shop on site, fantastic helpful friendly staff, all guests very respectful of 2130 quiet time .
Absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay , even the sun shined all weekend !
PS. Great mobile internet signal on O2/Tesco network.

If you’ve got a thing for high-action activities, you’ll find yourself with a fair few options. Horse riding can be tracked down in around 20 minutes, but if you’d rather set out to see what’s happening out on the big blue, RIB rides (25 minutes’ drive) and coasteering (15 minutes) are on hand for wildlife spotting and more adrenaline. Things are just as splendid up on the clifftops along the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path (10 minutes) – over the 130 miles, you might pass sea arches, sand dunes and salt marsh, but it's up to you how far you want to go. Stop to rummage through the rockpools at Trearddur Bay beach (15 minutes), and cool off with a dip if you've worked up a sweat on your hike. If you’re feeling like a quieter day, there’s a golf course (15 minutes) for peaceful days of putting, or the Ucheldre Centre (15 minutes) runs arts and crafts events for the creative minded among you.
