Outdoor stays are pretty bloomin' fab at Red Rose, a small-scale farm site set in a secluded west Wales location. Why so? First of all, there's the fact that you and your travel tribe will have the run of the place, including exclusive use of the handy site facilities. The only neighbours you'll have here are the owner's friendly animals, who you'll no doubt spot grazing peacefully in adjoining fields. Red Rose's facilities are housed in unobtrusive wooden outbuildings that blend in well with these peaceful farmland surrounds. There's a kitchenette where you can knock up an alfresco breakfast, an open firepit that you can huddle around after dark and a basic but handy toilet to keep things ticking over. When it comes to kicking back, this site has a spacious outdoor decking area where you can watch birds flitting overhead, take in the fresh country air and perhaps get stuck into some holiday reading. The countryside around here is mostly green farmland dotted with small villages, with the landscape getting hillier as you get into the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. Red Rose is about two and a half miles from Llangeitho (10 minutes' drive), a pretty village with a pub that sits on the banks of the Aeron river. The Ceredigion coastline and the Welsh Coast Path are about 20 minutes in the other direction. The nearest supermarket is in Tregaron (10 minutes).
