If you’ve answered yes to all three questions, check out the luxury pods at Jerusalem Farm, 10 minutes’ drive from the pubs and shops of Haddington in East Lothian.
Making natty little hideaways any time of year, the pods are hand-crafted from wood and well insulated to keep everyone warm and cosy whatever might be happening outside.
Inside each pod is a comfy, cosy space with a queen-size bed, two-seater sofa and a circular dining table with chairs. The kitchenette has all the paraphernalia you need to rustle up simple meals, and there’s room for a compact shower room too. All bed linen and towels are provided, along with bathroom products and bits and bobs for kitchen cleaning. A TV is included, but please note that you will need your own Amazon Prime login to make use of this.
The double doors at the front of the pods open out to the south, with far-reaching views to the Lammermuir Hills – and so you can enjoy said views, each one has an outdoor dining table and chairs on private decking, along with a handy weather-proof box for storage. Secure bike storage is available as well.
If you fancy a breath of fresh air while on site, walk down the field to the River Tyne. On your expedition, keep a look out for deer, hares or foxes flitting through the undergrowth, while buzzards and herons can often be spotted as you stroll.

Ticket off bucket-list attractions like the castle, Georgian New Town and Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh (35 minutes’ drive), or climb up Arthur’s Seat for views to the Firth of Forth. If city life is not for you, genteel Haddington (10 minutes) is a mellow market town with riverside walks alongside the Tyne and pretty gardens to wander at St Mary’s Pleasance.
Meander through dunes to the vast sandy beach in John Muir Country Park (20 minutes), and if you’re looking for something a mite more challenging, the cycling and hiking routes of the Lammermuir Hills are about 20 minutes away by car.
Combine your strolls with a history lesson and clamber up Traprain Law (15 minutes) to the site of an Iron Age fort, or visit the castle ruins at Dirleton (20 minutes), Crichton (15 minutes) and coastal Tantallon (25 minutes). There’s parkland to explore at Lennoxlove House (10 minutes), along with sumptuous apartments in the house itself, with parts dating from the 14th century and much remodelled down the centuries.
