Time for some serious adults-only downtime in gorgeous and peaceful Somerset countryside? Haste ye to family-run Daisy Farm, a site 10 minutes’ drive from Highbridge in Somerset, which has simple facilities including a couple of showers, toilets and a washing-up sink. The grass pitches are on a fourth-generation, family-run working farm, with a dairy herd grazing right next to the camping field and curious donkeys to befriend as well. Dogs are welcome, and your canine companions can look forward to lots of exercise on country walks. Please just keep them under tight control while on site. Fancy a change of scenery? Leave the car behind at your pitch and amble along the quiet Somerset lanes to a couple of local pubs (both around 20 minutes’ walk), which serve outstanding food. There’s also a village store 10 minutes’ walk away selling artisan produce. The coast isn’t far away either: from Daisy Farm, it’s 10 minutes’ drive to Burnham-on-Sea, where there’s a long, sandy beach and a golf course. Cheddar Gorge and Caves, on the edge of the Mendip Hills National Landscape, are 20 minutes by car to the north.

Ik was blij met We absolutely loved the simplicity and peacefulness of Daisy Farm. Visiting off-peak meant we practically had the place to ourselves, which was exactly what we wanted!

The facilities were exceptionally clean, with two showers, two toilets, washing-up facilities. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

We particularly loved the quaint little shop with its selection of homemade products and gifts. My only regret is forgetting to buy myself a keyring!

One of the highlights was waking up to the cows in the morning and seeing the donkeys’ curious little faces watching us wander backwards and forwards to the showers. Such lovely characters!

The night sky was absolutely beautiful too, perfect for a bit of stargazing.

We loved the rural atmosphere, the open grassy pitches and the fact that it felt like a proper little countryside campsite rather than a commercial holiday park.

A wonderful couple of nights away with our little dog Mitzy. Thank you for having us

Ik was niet blij met Although the facilities were perfect for us during our off-peak stay, I imagine they could become a little stretched during with only two toilets, two showers and sharing electric hook-up points, it is something worth considering if visiting when the site is full.

This didn’t affect our experience at all, as we didn’t require electricity and had very little competition for the facilities.

Ik was blij met Our 1st visit and want be the last. When we arrived we had clear instructions on where to pitch we picked the front field grass pitch with electric close to the facilities. The owners were very friendly and had plenty of time for our questions regarding bike rides to the nearest pub, the pack horse about 1.5 miles away. Again very friendly and welcoming and a lovely pint of potholer. We were very lucky that we had the field to ourselves.
The only issue I could imagine would be during the summer, would be amount of facilities 2 toilets and 2 showers maybe a few more maybe needed.
Would definitely use this lovely site again.

Ik was blij met Excellent set up for our first night in our new campervan. Every thing you needed whilst still feeling like you were in the countryside. Two pubs in walking distance as well.

We had food at The Pack horse pub - very nice!
The toilets/shower and communal area were all spotless.

Ik was blij met Wonderful site! Nice quiet location with nice flat ground for our touring caravan.

Great communication from owners from the start and was sent a message on the morning of our visit with a few little details.
Really good WiFi! Dig friendly and our Welshie loved it!
Toilet clean and tidy (can't comment on showers as use the one in our caravan)
Not too far from Cheddar gorge! We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back in the summer for a longer stay!

Ik was blij met Tyson showers are very clean. There’s also a small vintage kind of shop not a food and drink shop however it did sell home-made bits and logs for the fire pit.
Annabelle is very friendly. We arrived after hours and it was no problem. She leaves you to your own devices but is around if you need her.
Also has a fridge freezer should you need it and plugs to charge your phone

When a day at the beach beckons, the long sandy stretch at Burnham-on-Sea beach (10 minutes’ drive) is your closest option; you can play a round of golf on the links course nearby. If you want a hearty dog walk along the shoreline, park up at Berrow Beach (15 minutes) and stroll along the sands to the wreck of the SS Nornen, which ran aground during a storm in 1897. 
Turning inland, you can join subterranean tours of the millennia-old caves at Cheddar Gorge (20 minutes) to see towering stalagmites and stalactites, and learn about the ancient inhabitants of the caverns at the adjacent Museum of Prehistory. You can also hike trails through the gorge itself, or go hardcore and climb its steep sides on fixed lines. 
If you’re after a few bargains, Clarks Village (25 minutes) is a designer outlet centre with upscale stores. You can also buy jewellery and hand-printed textiles at indie boutiques in Glastonbury (also 25 minutes) – while you’re there, have a look round the peaceful abbey and maybe stretch your legs with a stroll up Glastonbury Tor for views over the Somerset Levels.
