In the South Devon National Landscape, a few miles from Dartmoor National Park and within easy reach of the coast… all good things to see when you’re looking for a spot for your Devon downtime. And if you choose a break at Breezy Bell Tents, you'll also be able to throw into the mix easy access to the A38 for smooth journeys in and out. Of course, it's not all about the location – as excellent as this family-run spot 15 minutes' drive from Totnes might be. This is also a site that wins extra points for its lovely views over to Dartmoor, its large amounts of open space, its quiet family-friendly atmosphere and its often-spectacular sunsets. And on top of all that, you won't even have to set up a tent to get your fix of life under canvas – instead, you'll be staying in a sturdy bell tent sleeping up to four people (with double or twin bed setups on request) and a few home comforts like rugs and bean bags. You’re welcome to bring along a barbecue or firepit to make the most of your outdoor time; fresh eggs and meat are often available to buy here, and there are two communal fridges for storing your food and keeping drinks cool. Other shared facilities include a phone charging point, toilets and hot showers.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Once you've seen Dartmoor from afar, you may well want to get down there for a closer look – the edge of the national park is about 15 minutes' drive away, and you'll be within easy reach of popular spots like Canonteign Falls and Haytor Rocks (both half an hour’s drive) as well as more local walks like the one around Ugborough Beacon (15 minutes). There are, of course, more excellent walks to be had along the South West Coast Path – or you may prefer to head straight to one of the nearby beaches, such as Blackpool Sands or Slapton Sands (both 25 minutes). Dartmouth (25 minutes) and the seaside city of Plymouth (35 minutes) are both worth a trip too. Family days out nearby might also include places like Pennywell Farm (15 minutes), Woodlands Family Theme Park (15 minutes) or Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (25 minutes). Guests of all ages are also fond of steam-powered journeys on the South Devon Railway (15 minutes).
