When is a quarry not a quarry? When it’s a glampsite of course… So if you’d like a stylish outdoor break in a 14-acre limestone quarry that shut up shop in the 1960s – and one that’s directly on the South West Coast Path for hiking jaunts, by the way – Stones and Stars Boutique Glamping in Devon should be right up your street. Here you can stay in well-designed and luxurious accommodation, surrounded by trees and nature and with lots of extra stuff thrown in like quality bedding and towels, crockery, cutlery and unusual antique furniture. Outside each unit is a barbecue, firepit and picnic table with seating; you can fend for yourselves in the cooking department as there’s a well-equipped kitchen for use by all units, laid out with toasters, kettles, fridge, pots and pans. If you prefer to sidestep the catering, pubs, cafés and local shops are within 10 minutes on foot, while the Plymouth dining scene is a mere 15 minutes’ drive away. Battery power packs are provided for lights and phone chargers, and blankets or hot water bottles can be requested for colder nights. If you want to meet fellow guests, there’s a communal area surrounded by trees, but equally well you can keep private if preferred. Even if you’re sticking to your own company, you may have to share the quarry with birds of prey, badgers and deer, who are all frequent visitors – hopefully you won’t mind too much. You can also use the fishing lake, explore the old boat house or go paddleboarding and kayaking on tidal Hooe Lake on the neighbouring Radford Estate.

Deze glamping site biedt een idyllische, rustige ontsnapping, geprezen om haar perfecte ligging aan een meer en kustpad. Gasten loven de goed uitgeruste, smetteloze tenten en faciliteiten (kampkeuken, schone badkamers). Een vuurplaats en inbegrepen beddengoed droegen bij aan een comfortabel verblijf. Handig is de nabijheid van een supermarkt via een mooi wandelpad. Aanbevelingen: waterkoker, plastic bekers. Iedereen wenste langer te blijven.

Ik was blij met Nice location, next to lake and coastal path. Not far to plymouth, though you might want to take a bus. Bus at the top of the hill. Very quiet. Fire pit provided. Nice bathroom.camp kitchen available to borrow pans and wash up.

Ik was niet blij met Could do with a camping kettle. There is an electric kettle in barn though.

Saharatent

Ik was blij met What an absolute gem of a find! Very warm welcome, escorted to our gorgeous tent and nothing too much trouble. An idyllic location and so peaceful. Everything there for you to use, well stocked kitchen area with fridges to store food. The layout of the tents provides privacy for everyone and toilet / showers are spotless. We cannot wait to return and follow the coast and forest trails on the doorstep - for all important bbq food for the evening, there is a Morrisons about 15mins walk away and again, along a lovely path. We heard tawny owls at night and the bedding was toasty. We both slept like logs. This is going to be very popular I think!

Ik was niet blij met Not a dislike more a suggestion…. Some plastic glasses for drinks (cocktail cans & beers) would be perfect!

Ik was blij met Pete was fantastic, left a personal engagement to accommodate late check in and was super helpful throughout our stay.

Lovely surroundings with clean facilities. The tent was comfortable, with lights and bedding included. Outside, sitting by the firepit/barbecue was a fantastic way to spend the afternoon. Cost of wood and coal was reasonable.

Close to a morrisons for supplies, just walk along the coastal path.

Did not want to leave. A peaceful stay.

Ik was blij met Everything!! The tent was incredible and had absolutely everything you could need. Plenty of towels, all the crockery, some interesting books to read, the fire pit I was most impressed with. The scenery was just simply stunning. The location has plenty of walks to go on in either direction. My kids loved it. The facilities where close by and loved the kitchen area which had even more stuff that's useful. It felt an honour to have stayed there in all honesty. Me and my children loved it. The host was amazing and made us feel really welcome. It's just a really cool place and I hope to be back soon. We even heard a tawny owl.
