If you’re plotting out a peaceful break in the Cornish countryside, then you may want to settle in for a stay at Tredaule Ground. A peaceful wild camping site just outside Bodmin Moor, you’ll be well-based for moorland walks and hikes past prehistoric hillforts in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as beach days or tracing Merlin’s legends down at the coast, just over half an hour’s drive away. This is quite a remote spot outside the village of Altarnun, so there are simple facilities. You’ll have no electricity here, but toilets are available. Of course, the outdoors takes prime spot here – and happily, there are lots of local footpaths to explore nearby once you’ve had your way with the moors. Food is also pretty splendid around here. First of all, there are two local pubs within walking distance of the site (under 40 minutes’ walk away) where you may get your hands on some tasty dishes. Jamaica Inn, a novel smugglers inn, is also just 10 minutes’ drive away. It’s likely you’ll be looking for a solid supply of nibbles to keep you going while you’re out and about too. Handily, the village shop is 15 minutes’ walk away so you’ll be able to sort out the basics here.
