Lake or beach? You’ll have the option of both views when you stay at Meadowside – this lovely location has a lake on site and is only a couple of miles from the north Cornwall coast.
Those two things alone give you several excellent options for things to do while you’re here – either head over to the coast for a walk, a swim or some surfing, or stay on site to fish for carp, tench and perch (you’ll need to bring your own fishing kit, and just note that the lake is closed for fishing during spawning season in May and June). Any of those makes a lovely way to fill a few hours, and local bus services make the coast trips and walks nice and straightforward.
There are plenty of other attractions around too, including King Arthur’s former stomping ground at Tintagel Castle and St Nectan’s Waterfall, but it’s likely you may choose to spend a fair amount of time on site here. With no wifi and very limited mobile phone signal, it’s a great spot for a digital detox, swapping scrolling for sitting out and soaking up the scenery while the sun goes down.
Your cosy shepherd’s hut has heating and a mini kitchen as well as a day bed that converts into a kingsize bed. Outside, there’s a barbecue, an outdoor dining area and a rather wonderful double whirlpool-style bath for a memorable outdoor soak. Your private compost toilet and a shower (shared between just a handful of guests) are in a separate block nearby.
