You’ll really feel like you’ve arrived in the countryside when staying at The Sunny Field. Pitches at this gorgeous spot in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are mown into a meadow full of wild flowers and long grasses, so you’ll be nicely secluded and fully immersed in your surroundings. Those pitches have been very thoughtfully planned too – each one is spacious enough for you and all your kit to spread out, and has a firepit for the obligatory campfire as the sun sets. The site is spread over eight acres, allowing for plenty of space between pitches. Dogs are welcome and kids can run free around the field to find things like tyre swings in the trees. To keep things nicely safe, cars are not allowed on the pitches and you’ll be provided with wheelbarrows to cart your kit around. Unsurprisingly, the owners are keen to preserve their natural environment as much as possible, so they’ve set everything up here to be off grid and eco friendly. Compost toilets and standpipe taps are provided, and you’ll have access to a washing-up area, recycling facilities and showers housed in a cleverly converted horse box. Getting out to see more of your fabulous surroundings should be easy – there are lots of paths and quiet lanes around for walks, jogs or bike rides, perhaps with a stop at the pub in the nearby village of Stelling, a mile away. For other outings, you can reach Canterbury or the south coast beaches with a drive of about 20 minutes.

  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.

Grote, ruime plekken op rustige, afgelegen locatie. Gasten genoten van houtovenpizza's en koffie in de buurt. Autovrij, veilig voor kinderen maar zwaar met bagage. Faciliteiten zijn basic, eco, maar composttoiletten hebben meer ventilatie nodig. Een dichterbij gelegen stortpunt zou fijn zijn.

Staanplaats kampeerbusje op gras zonder elektriciteit

Ik was blij met The location, very much off the beaten track. The campervan pitches are enormous, despite being a family site, due to how spaced out the pitches are from each other, you never really heard any of the children playing.

The wood fire pizzas down at the owners home (a little 5 minute walk, although 10 minutes back as it is all uphill back to the site) are fantastic, as is the builders tea and freshly ground coffee in the mornings.

Location wise, great for exploring the local area, Dover, Sandwich, Deal etc.

We were lucky to have a free air display from a passing Spitfire, whilst the atmosphere of the site is laid back and chilling.

Love the fact those glamping and or in their own tents are not allowed to enter the camping area with their cars, therefore if camping/ glamping be prepared for a little exercise as those doing so use wheelbarrows to take their gear from the carpark to their pitch.

Two field, Campervans on the upper field, love the layout with the pitches mowed out of otherwise tall grass, even the walkways are mowed out, this IMO provides and ads to the charm of the site.

Facilities basic, again quirky although sufficient, whilst repeated at numerous area over the two fields, reducing an overload at one set of facilities, whilst being handy if your pitch is some distance from the car park

Ik was niet blij met Compost toilet, although can understand why this site uses such, could do with more ventilation and or stronger air fresheners.

The bin area was untidy, bins full whilst there were a constant buzz from wasps which congregate around the bins…. Although I accept nature is nature. Non of the aforementioned detracted from a wonderful site and stay

Ik was blij met Nice pitches, plenty of space between them. Long grass helps you feel more separate and adds a little privacy.

Ik was niet blij met It is car free so no complaints really, but having a drop off point nearer the pitch would have been very helpful (cars full field length away), especially on a heat wave day.

Ik was blij met Great campsite lovely big pitches and I love that they are only defined by the grass moved into circles. Nice eco friendly facilities and with the cars all parked near the entrance very safe for small children!
Will 100% be back.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Taking walks along the pathways of the Kent Downs you’ll probably spot quite a bit of native wildlife; if you’d like to see something rather bigger and more exotic you’ll need to head to Port Lympne Reserve (20 minutes’ drive), home to gorillas, giraffes and endangered species like rhinos. Also about 20 minutes away by car is the city of Canterbury, where you can see the Gothic-style cathedral, visit the Roman Museum, take a walk along the ancient city walls and see the historic sights from the water on a relaxing river boat trip. Alternatively, head south to hit the Kent coast – it will take you about 20 minutes to get to Folkestone for a beach day, a coastal walk, a stroll around the Creative Quarter or a meal at one of the town’s excellent restaurants. There are lots of great places to visit along other stretches of coast too: maybe try Whitstable (40 minutes’ drive), Deal (45 minutes) or trendy Margate (an hour).
