Pondhead

Pondhead is a relaxed and welcoming Hampshire site on a one-acre paddock within a working farm in the New Forest National Park, a mile from the town of Lyndhurst (which you can walk to along a quiet footpath through the heath from the site). Pitches here are on a sheltered and dry field that’s mainly level and has access to a toilet block and drinking water points. It’s easy to get out onto forest trails from the site, and on evening walks it’s possible to spot all sorts of wild beasties including badgers, deer, foxes and owls. To make sure guests don’t disturb the neighbours (both the wild ones and fellow guests on site), this is a quiet family-oriented site and everyone’s asked to keep the hubbub down after 10pm. The surroundings and setting here are pretty special, but perhaps the best thing about this site is the tasty treats on offer at its farm shop: guests are encouraged to stock up on home-reared sausages, burgers and steaks for the barbecue, and you can also pick up breakfast bits (milk, cereal and orange juice) and picnic wares like pasties and pies to take off on your wanders. And where might those wanders take you? Well, out into the forest, of course, or down to the coast at Lymington, or to marvel at the motor collection at Beaulieu, or to meet Peppa Pig at Paultons Park or… well, it’s safe to say there’s plenty to do around here.
