Longing to snuggle up by your woodburning stove and gaze out over fields? Pine Croft Shepherd Huts, a small adults-only site a mile from Snainton village centre with far-reaching rural views, is a prime pick for peeping out over the North Yorkshire countryside. It's also only a 10-minute drive from Thornton Dale on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and 20 minutes from the coast. Your hut comes equipped with plenty of well-thought-through features that'll likely keep you happily ensconced in it for many a cosy hour, including a woodburning stove, a comfy double bed and ample storage space. A sizeable kitchen and food prep area is equipped with a microwave, stove and fridge. Outside, there's wooden decking and a secluded wooded area where you can relax and light up fires after dark. From the site gates, it's an easy 20- to 30-minute stroll into Snainton village, where two pubs, a small shop and a fish and chip shop may well prove handy for stocking up on supplies or eating out. A popular butcher's is in the next village over, Brompton, and within five minutes' drive of the site. Snainton is also on a bus route that runs into Scarborough in about half an hour if you'd rather leave the car back at base. (Driving down the A170 takes even less time, setting you back a mere 20 minutes or so). Dalby Forest, a well-liked woodland on the southern flank of the North York Moors National Park with extensive walking and mountain biking opportunities, is also a 20-minute drive away.

Ik was blij met It was absolutely beautiful, secluded, quiet, clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. I spent hours in the hammock looking up at the stars. Welcome pack was really helpful and Orla was so attentive and welcoming. My dog loved being able to roam free. Was a choice of pubs close by and the beach was only a short drive

Ik was blij met We absolutely loved our stay at Pine Croft.It was everything and MORE we could have ever imagined. From the amazing hut and it's even more amazing host, we didn't want to leave! The hut was in an amazing location with stunning views just a short drive away. We was welcomed with friendliness and a lovely little welcome hamper including fresh eggs from the chickens on site, with lovely little touches that made it feel like home. It was a great place for our little dog who had lots of space to run freely and enjoyed sniffing out the wildlife around us. We would highly recommend.

Ik was blij met This is my second time I have stayed and as the last time a warm welcome the hut is very very clean. Everything you need for a few days relaxing stay, including fresh egg, bread and milk. It’s secluded and quiet. Lovely small bathroom and well appointed kitchen. Very comfy bed and lovely outside space.

Ik was blij met The site was beautiful secluded and Orla was just brilliant. Goats close by and lots of nature to listen to and watch. Orla and Justin are very very thoughtful and the welcome pack very well thought out. The hut is quaint but was very much what was needed, clean and homely.

Ik was blij met Everything.
This is a lovely secluded hut overlooking fields, very quiet and peaceful. The hut was very clean and tidy with a good hot shower. it is fenced off from rest of property so our dog was very happy being off her lead roaming around the hut and garden area.the welcome pack was very thoughtful bread,milk eggs and some biscuits and sweets. We had a lovely welcome from Orla on arrival and we met Justin later, even got a email to check we were ok as weather was bad. To check if we needed any wood etc. walk into snaiton about 15 minutes has 2 pubs and a fish n chips shop we didn't use any as wanted to get back to the lovely hut and enjoy either outside fire pit or log burner in hut. Drove to Clayton bay to see the beach.

Ik was blij met This was a lovely little secluded hut. Very peaceful and quiet overlooking some fields.
Outdoor firepit and comfortable bed. The owners were very lovely and because it was fenced off from the rest of the property it meant my dog could be off his lead which is ideal.
The shower was hot and very powerful which was fantastic!
The hut was clean and tidy. Plenty of pots and utensils for cooking and some complimentary eggs from the chickens and apples from the tree.
Unfortunately I didn't mooch into the village as I spent my time enjoying quiet by the hut and the days at Dalby forest which is only a short drive away.
Will definitely stay again.

Scarper down to Scarborough (20 minutes' drive) for top-rated visits to its hilltop castle, landscaped Peasholm Park and Shuttleworth Gardens or simply classic bucket and spade days on the beach. Scarborough Art Gallery should keep creative types stimulated, while history-hunters should find the Rotunda Museum and Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre more than satisfactory. Filey (30 minutes), another seafront spot where there are five miles of sandy shores, is only slightly further away; it also has the added attraction of being home to Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, Filey Brigg Country Park and Filey Golf Club. Inland, Pickering (20 minutes) also has much to recommend itself to those passing through, including Pickering Castle and The North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Once you've broken ground on Dalby Forest (20 minutes), check out the rest of the North Riding Forest Park or get up into the treetops for an aerial perspective at Go Ape (also 20 minutes). Dalby Activity Centre (15 minutes) has more adventurous options, including paintballing, archery and – if you're looking to test out your other half's scouting or guiding skills – orienteering.
