Quarry Hill Campsite

Ik was blij met It’s perfect! Great campsite all round. The bell tent was, spacious, clean and great views. Toilet and showers were spotless. The occasional spider but to be expected in a field!
What made our trip special was the amazing family who own the site, welcomed us on arrival and were warm and friendly throughout our stay. We arrived on a very wet weekend and had to add our 2 grandkids on at last minute but nothing was too much trouble. Due to weather couldn’t bbq so had breakfast and dinner from their cafe and food was lovely. Recommend pizza, waffles and pancakes. Really reasonable prices.
It’s easy to find, short car journey to the seaside towns and perfect location for exploring east coast.

Ik was blij met We only stayed for 1 night as a last minute weekend trip but we will be back. The owners are lovel, friendly and helpful, the facilities were always clean. Lovely views and a nice little play area for the kids and a tent with pool/ping pong tables which was nice. The food from the snack bar and the evening pizza were both lovely!

Ik was blij met We were greeted by the lovely Katie who checked us in quickly, with minimal fuss. The site itself is lovely, the toilets are clean, the showers are excellent (and free!). There's a decent snack bar on site and a large marquee with free games (giant connect 4, pool, table tennis). All of the owners/staff are very friendly and helpful and clearly keen to make sure you enjoy your stay. There are things people may need to be aware of (see 'dislikes') but I would very happily come back here again!

It really is a back to basics campsite but those basics are done very well. This is exactly the kind of place I like to camp :)

Ik was niet blij met This isn't a list of dislikes, none of these things bothered me in the slightest, but they're worth being aware of before you book:
The entrance is easy to miss and it's off a busy main road, so be careful!
The car park is steep and gravelly. I was on a motorbike and forgot the golden rule of parking facing down (or up) the slope! Trying to get back on the bike was a bit of a challenge. Don't make the same mistake I did! (That said - the owners are very biker friendly)
The toilets/showers have one toilet and one shower each for men and women. They are tight cubicles. Always clean, very hot water - they work just fine - but worth being aware availability could be limited (we didn't have to wait at any point though)
The field is quite sloped - there are two areas that are flatter - one at the bottom by the main road, one up top where the views are. Still slightly sloped but manageable. The ground is hard but normal tent pegs went in easily - you just need to tap them in patiently! Don't hammer them in hard (or use hard ground pegs).
It's only open Friday - Monday, so if you want a longer stay this isn't for you.
It's off-grid, all power etc is generated on site. I loved that, others may not.
It doesn't have all the amenities of a holiday park (e.g., a bar)...and I think it's all the better for that. If you want the holiday park experience there are plenty of options to go for nearby.

Really friendly staff went out of their way to help. Would definitely return !

Ik was blij met What’s not to like this is my new favourite campsite. The facilities are just excellent. Well maintained and clean. A lovely little cafe which is so reasonable and did the most amazing waffles for breakfast. The campsite owners were lovely and took time to chat to us. Pitches were level and the site not over filled by design. We will most definitely be back.

Ik was blij met Lay out of the site, cleanliness of facilities, reasonable prices for food and drinks from cafe. Friendliness of owners. Location of site, views. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you for having us.

Ik was blij met Owners were friendly and very welcoming. We were there for the first night of the pizza trial and the next night we had double cheeseburgers, both very nice and very reasonably priced.

Activities tent with ping pong, pool and a large connect 4, was a bonus.

The bell tent was spacious and had a shoe rack a little ottoman with 3 drawers and the beds were super comfortable. Wood and fire lighters were all assembled in the fire pit ready to go.

Toilets and showers were very clean, no smells at all.

Plug sockets were located in the shower/toilet room near the entrance.

What would be amazing as I know the owners said about trying something new with opening the snack hut on the night (great idea). We mentioned to each other it would be amazing to have some kind of large projector and having a family movie viewing on the nights 🥰
