Set your compass for a splendid single shepherd’s hut in an excellent spot for adventures around the East Anglian fens and coastline… the hut at Rosary Farm is certainly a cosy place to stay in a small, private garden near the village of St John's Fen End in Norfolk. Sleeping up to two (with additional room for a small baby), this glamping unit has plenty of outdoor space, plus its own private toilet and shower. Climb the three steps up to a stable door… inside, there’s a comfy double bed and a kitchenette with a two-ring electric hob, small chiller, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. There’s ample storage under the bed for luggage, plus a folding table and chairs that can be easily tucked away when you’re not using them. A portable electric heater/fan is available, but the hut has double glazing and it’s insulated (appropriately enough) with sheep's wool, so you shouldn’t need it too much. You’re not totally off-grid here, as the hut has electric lighting and sockets. Off-road parking is also available approximately 20 metres from the hut so there's not far to lug your kit. It’s private enough here, as the hut’s in the garden and not in full view of the house. For alfresco cooking, there’s a garden table, two chairs and a firepit with a grid (initial fuel is supplied and more can be bought on site if necessary). The area is generally very peaceful, although it is on a working arable farm so there may be some noise, particularly during harvest time. The owners have dogs, cats, chickens and a very large pet pig, and the local wildlife provides its own soundtrack, especially after dark.

Ik was niet blij met V small fridge threw us a bit as we’d done a food shop before arriving but the hosts were very kind in letting us put a bottle of wine in their personal fridge!

Sorry if the size of the fridge was an issue for you - we were only too happy to put your wine in our fridge for you, but had we known you needed more fridge space, we do have an extra fridge and a small freezer available. We currently only offer that to guests staying longer than two nights as we expect them to have more food and drink to keep cool but we'll try and remember to offer it to all guests on arrival in future. It's always good to get suggestions from guests, so thank you for mentioning it.

Ik was blij met Booked Rosary Farm and the stay at Willow for my girlfriend’s 40th birthday. Beautiful location, easy to find and check in was easy as well.
Sarah and Dave were very friendly and welcoming, facilities were clean and Willow is a beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely location, clean and comfortable, really good size and warm too though we didn’t need that as it was fairly warm the nights we stayed.
We were gifted the most beautiful sunset across The Fens on our second night and later that evening we also went stargazing which truly was perfect as the open sky out there is amazing!
Fire pit was a lovely touch too though we didn’t use it as I cannot light fires for the life of me! Also another lovely touch were the provided bath towels!
LGBTQ+ friendly. Just a heads up, there is no WiFi in the hut, Vodafone had fairly strong 4G but my girlfriend on EE struggled with her signal dropping intermittently. No biggie.

Ik was blij met The shepherds hut was beautiful! It felt very private and safe. Although the bathroom was just across the grass, it was probably a better bathroom that what would’ve been in the hut if they had squeezed one in there. The hut had essentials for cooking and a little table and chairs you could set up to eat at. Instructions prior to arrival were accurate and helpful.

Ik was niet blij met Perhaps could have some oil in for cooking or some anti bac spray!

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

There’s a lot of scope for lazy days from this site, from river fishing a few minutes’ walk away to pedalling around the boardwalks at the Wicken Fen Nature Reserve (an hour’s drive). Just note that you’ll need to seek a licence for fishing on the local river in advance. Those of you who can’t pass on an afternoon pottering around shops or eateries and taking in the feel of a town will find some splendid places to do that too… take in the Georgian architecture around Wisbech (15 minutes) or choose between the town trail, the Hanse Trail and Maritime Trail in King's Lynn (20 minutes) for some very historical strolls packed with Hanseatic history. More history can be tracked down at Peckover House and Garden (20 minutes), Peterborough Cathedral (45 minutes), Castle Rising (30 minutes) or Castle Acre (35 minutes), but for donkey rides and some of the classic seaside, Hunstanton beach (45 minutes) is a splendid choice.
