The pitches at Brook Farm are set in a six-acre meadow adjacent to farmland in the Soar Valley. This secluded South Nottinghamshire campsite has spacious grass pitches just waiting for all you nature-loving couples, families, friends and – of course – your dogs. If you’re after a basic and peaceful site with lots of space to relax or explore, this will make you a smashing base. The rustling of leafy trees around the camping field is a restful summer experience, and if you’re quiet going about your business, you might spot all sorts of wildlife in hedgerows and along the brook that meanders through the field. Local roads are generally quiet and suitable for cycling and there’s plenty of local footpaths leading you through spectacular landscapes. The Soar river runs through the neighbouring field, and on-site footpaths will lead you there in less than five minutes. Pop-up facilities include portable toilets and rubbish and recycling bins. There’s easy access to the fields from the adjoining road, and you can park the car next to your tent, where there is ample space for barbecues and firepits. Sutton Bonington village (five minutes’ walk) has three pubs and a handy store (open until late) for picking up bits for the grill – there are a couple of farm shops locally selling fresh produce too.
