Mi è piaciuto I had a great 2 night stay from Friday to Sunday, Early Sept 26. Good sized pitches with short grass and relatively flat ground, with the river running alongside. A nice gravel area with firepit & log seats for each pitch and grills that can be borrowed for cooking. Plenty of wood, bottled water and other things available to buy in the Camp Shop (Easy to pay via Sumup and Google/Apple Pay). The composting toilet and shower are both kept clean and Water is from a standpipe with soap handpump for handwashing, almost better than what you would expect. Use bottled or its fine for a boiled brew, as it's the same water the owners use (Your own safety first as always but they've been living off it). Its only 4 pitches/groups and the cabin so you still feel pretty secluded, even though there might be a few others around nobody gets in anybody else's way. A great option for the semi-wild camping experience. I took a cycle along the old Military road and one of the other groups I spoke to were using it as a stop over for some hillwalking (including Schiehallion, I believe). The A9 is only 200m away as the crow flies and the Highland Main Line railway is further up the hill on the opposite side but you'd never know as the river and trees mask anything and its just the flow of water and rustle of trees. They've recently planted some more young trees and once grown a bit this will make it even better. From where you park your cark, it's just under 500m across the river and along the track to the pitches. The river was about calf deep at the most and not too cold so I just rolled up my jeans and had a pair of 'wet' shoes for crossing on foot. I was offered a lift but just walked. With hindsight and if you are reading this.....take the offer of a lift!

Mi è piaciuto I had an excellent 2 nights this weekend (Fri PM - Sun AM). Lauren met/introduced me and pointed the way (sorry I was a little late). It's about 300-400 metres from car to camping area along a gravel then strimmed grass path, but an easy walk or there's some wheelbarrows nearby to make life a little easier (I didn't use them on Friday but helpful when bringing in Saturday's supplies). A Great Wee Setup!! 5 pitches spread well enough apart in a large wooded but still very open and spacious area, a central circular fire area with log seats and smaller BBQ grills for separate cooking, fire bucket and recycling bins. You can relieve yourself in the Composting toilet shed and use the hand pumped water for washing (non drinking afaik, bring/boil your own). On Friday night there were 3 other campers in 2 tents but they left v.early Sat morning and I had the place to myself after that. Absolute silence, there's a railway line not that far away but the birds were louder that it and nothing in the fields alongside, at least when I was there. About 2.5 miles from Lanark, so plenty to go look at nearby and shops for stocking up. There's places to walk here on the farm as well. I took a 'short' walk along 'The Long Avenue' on Saturday night (about 1.5miles there & back) and got some lovely views, no extra wildlife but there were some semi domestic jacket nibblers in the fields/paddocks :) Alex was really helpful, had a good chat as he got me more wood for Saturday's campfire, and another before I left on Sunday.
