Great location, but cramped pitches. Wouldn't return or recommend.

ago 2026

Mi è piaciuto The location is without doubt the best thing about HolaCamp Arán Aventura. It is in a fantastic setting in the Pyrenees, right beside the River Garona, surrounded by mountains, and there is plenty to explore without having to move the motorhome. Les is a lovely little town and was probably only seven or eight minutes on foot from us, or a couple of minutes on the bikes. There are a few shops, hotels, bars and restaurants and a lovely river running through it. Definitely worth a wander. A little further on is Supermercado Boya. It is a large supermarket that seems geared towards bulk buying, with everything from meat, fruit and vegetables to wine and household goods. There is also a large perfumery, a small clothes shop, cafe and petrol station on the same complex. When we visited, the petrol station had huge queues and there were lots of French vehicles around. Fuel was considerably cheaper than we had recently paid in France, so that probably explained the popularity. We actually carried on cycling from there and crossed the border into France, which made for a great day out. Going in the opposite direction from the campsite there is a lovely rural riverside trail towards Bossòst. Bossòst has a much better selection of shops, restaurants and places to stop, including somewhere to buy fresh bread. The ride itself was one of the highlights of our stay, following the river through the countryside with caves, woodland and information boards about the local wildlife. Reception was also very good. The lady who checked us in was extremely pleasant and helpful. When our original pitch was completely unsuitable for our motorhome, she moved us without any argument or fuss, which we really appreciated. For younger children the campsite has plenty going for it, with a play area, volleyball and other activities, and there was certainly plenty happening around the site.

Non mi è piaciuto Unfortunately, the touring pitches were a major disappointment. Our original pitch, which I think was B1, was extremely small, on a very steep slope and had a communal water point almost in the middle of it. It was also beside the children's play area. With a motorhome approximately 7.5 metres long, it was physically impossible to manoeuvre onto the pitch properly because there simply was not enough room in the roadway in front. We were moved to a flatter pitch, which was better, but still extremely small. I actually measured it and it was approximately 6 metres by 9 metres, so 54 square metres, rather than the 70 square metres we had been expecting. The pitches are packed very tightly together and we felt a bit like sardines. Our second pitch was immediately beside the car park and entrance barrier, so vehicles were coming and going within a few feet of us throughout the day. It was also at the end of the zip line, so people were regularly arriving directly beside our pitch. The other major disappointment was the toilet and shower block. From our pitch it could hardly have been further away, right at the top of a fairly steep campsite, so every visit to the toilet, showers or washing up area involved a considerable walk uphill. At first glance the facilities looked reasonably modern, with plenty of showers, toilets and basins. Unfortunately, after using them for three days it became obvious that they were very poorly maintained. Several showers and toilets were out of order, a number of doors did not lock properly and the water pressure in the showers was dreadful. The showers use push buttons and the water often just spluttered out. On our final day the water stopped completely while I was trying to shower. That simply is not good enough and is something the campsite really needs to address. The bar and restaurant appeared to open mainly in the evening. We did not use it as we cooked ourselves, although the area looked clean and tidy. Overall, fantastic location, lovely surrounding area and very helpful reception staff, but badly let down by tiny touring pitches and poor shower and toilet facilities. With better maintained washrooms and more realistic information about pitch sizes, this could be a much better campsite.

ago 2026

Mi è piaciuto Camping Le Saillet is in a fantastic location at Lestelle Bétharram, right beside the fast flowing Gave de Pau and surrounded by the foothills of the Pyrenees. Our pitch was lovely and spacious, approximately 150 square metres, with green grass and neatly manicured hedges around it. Most of the pitches appeared to be of a similar standard, with plenty of room for a motorhome, awning and outdoor seating. The shower and toilet block was very close to our pitch and also included the washing up area. Everything was clean and tidy, and the showers themselves were perfectly acceptable. However, each block only had three showers and three toilets, which did not seem enough for the number of people using them. On several occasions people were waiting, so a couple more of each would make a big difference. There was also a lovely covered communal eating area, a bit like a wooden bandstand, with tables and benches. The bar was not very large, but it was pleasant and had a nice atmosphere. We stopped for a drink and found all the staff to be extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The campsite also has an outdoor swimming pool, although we did not use it because the weather was slightly overcast and cooler than we had experienced elsewhere. It was still around 25 degrees during the day, but the evenings cooled down nicely, which made sleeping much more comfortable. The location is excellent for walking and cycling. We took our electric bikes into Lestelle Bétharram and explored the old village, the historic stone bridge, the sanctuary, churches and chapels. The area has a great deal of history and is well worth exploring. Personally, we enjoyed discovering these quieter local places just as much as our visit to Lourdes, if not more. Lourdes is close enough for a day trip. The bus stop is only about a five minute walk from the campsite, and the journey takes roughly half an hour. We caught the 9.25am bus and there was only one other passenger apart from the four of us. The bus was clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced at around €18 return for all four of us. We decided not to wait for the return bus at around 5pm because we felt we had seen everything we wanted to see in Lourdes, so we ordered an Uber instead. It took about 20 minutes to arrive and cost approximately €30 back to the campsite, which we thought was good value. Lourdes is definitely worth visiting, particularly the Sanctuary, the Grotto and the holy water fountains, although we did not find it quite as spectacular as we had expected. We actually preferred exploring the old churches, bridge and chapels around Lestelle Bétharram, which felt quieter and had a great deal of character and history. For anyone looking for something more adventurous, rafting trips are available directly from the campsite on the Gave de Pau. We did not have enough time to try it, but it looked like a great activity. The historic village of Bruges is also only around 12 kilometres away and would make another good place to visit. Overall, this was a great campsite in a beautiful riverside location. The pitches were large, grassy and well maintained, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and there was plenty to see and do nearby. The only real criticism would be the limited number of showers and toilets. We would definitely return and would happily recommend Camping Le Saillet to anyone wanting a peaceful campsite near Lourdes, with beautiful scenery, cycling routes, historic villages and outdoor activities close by.

Mi è piaciuto Here’s a polished version you can use as a campsite review: Overall, this was a very good little campsite. It was quite small and peaceful rather than being a large, busy holiday park, which suited us well. The campsite is only a short walk from the local village, where there is a surprising amount going on for such a small place. We were lucky enough to be there during a big local fiesta and ended up having a brilliant evening drinking and chatting with some of the locals. There is also a lovely little pub called The Shakespeare, owned and run by an English couple who have apparently been there for around 24 years. The swimming pool was very nice, although it could probably do with a little more space and seating around it. There was a small bar operating from a converted caravan, which was perfectly adequate, and a small pizza hut where pizzas had to be ordered before 6pm. We did not use it, as having to order that early felt like a bit of a faff. The main downside was the shower and toilet facilities. Our nearest block only had two toilets and two showers, which did not seem enough for the number of people using it. The showers had those frustrating press buttons that only kept the water running for about five seconds, meaning you had to keep pressing them constantly. The water was also only tepid rather than properly warm. The location is excellent for cycling and exploring the surrounding area. There is also a small Carrefour Express just around the corner. Although it is not a large supermarket, it was very well stocked and had everything we needed. Despite the issues with the showers, we enjoyed our stay. It was a friendly, conveniently located campsite with a lovely pool and easy access to the village, local shops and some great cycle routes.I can also make it slightly funnier and more personal, including the part about getting drunk with the locals.

Camping Izarpe is in a great…

lug 2026

Mi è piaciuto Camping Izarpe is in a great location, around a two hour drive from the port of Santander, which made it a very convenient first stop after getting off the ferry. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. They were very friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. We were staying close to the older shower block in the middle of the campsite. It was quite small, with only two toilets and two showers. The toilets were fine, but I used the showers twice and unfortunately the water was cold, or tepid at best. The newer shower block near the reception, bar and restaurant looked much more modern, clean and tidy. I did not personally use the showers there, so I cannot comment on the water temperature. We hired two electric bikes from reception for the children, as we already had two of our own. They cost €25 each for half a day or €35 for a full day. The bikes were excellent and surprisingly powerful, so I would definitely recommend hiring them. We cycled through a small forest along what appeared to be a cycle or walking trail, which took us to the nearby village of Lizaso. There only seemed to be one restaurant there, where we stopped for a couple of drinks before cycling back. We also rode up the road directly to the left of the campsite and climbed into the hills behind it. The views from the mountains looking down over the campsite and surrounding countryside were spectacular and definitely worth the ride. The swimming pool was very scenic and a lovely place to cool down, although the water was absolutely freezing. It may be designed to be that way, and to be fair, it was very refreshing as the daytime temperatures were well into the mid thirties. There was also a shaded seating area beside the pool, which was very welcome in the heat. The bar and restaurant were fabulous. We ate there a couple of times and, although it was always busy, we never had to wait too long for our food. The bar had a very good selection of beers and pretty much every other drink you could imagine. There was a great atmosphere around the bar and restaurant area. Overall, I would give Camping Izarpe eight out of ten. There are a few areas that could be improved, particularly the older shower block and the hot water, but we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay there again.

Mi è piaciuto Good size pitches, EHU, water and drainage on pitch all good.

Non mi è piaciuto Bathroom facilities dated, desperately needs updating, only one toilet, one shower, very grubby. Push button shower unnecessary, 20 seconds of water every push, however water was hot. There was WiFi, but we weren't allowed to use it, it should be an offered service for a fee.
