Mi è piaciuto We stayed in Cynefin for six nights in mid-July during the third heatwave of the summer, so had blue skies every day, and were looking at the last minute for somewhere quiet and not too far from the coast. There are many and varied excellent beaches within half an hour’s drive, from Poppit Sands up to nearby New Quay. The shepherd’s hut is excellent, clean and in good condition with everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. It was great to have superb, strong WiFi in the hut and after failing to find an OS map in the shops on the journey, there was one provided for our use when we arrived (and lots more books and info leaflets in the ‘Information Room’ in the barns). You can park close by, the hut has its own hedged garden around it and there’s an auxiliary cabin which is great for storing things that you don’t want to take into the hut. We didn’t spend much time during the day at Llainfrain, but one evening we did follow the nature walk down the hill and there’s a bird hide next to a large pond. The hosts were helpful when needed and we bought eggs laid by the chickens that we could hear and see. When you’re driving around the area you’ve got to be prepared for some very steep, narrow and twisting country lanes, but getting to Llainfrain from the main A road is straightforward, even if you’re not used to rural lanes. This accommodation was just the sort of thing we were looking for (having stayed in a few ‘pods’ over the past few years) and exceeded expectations. Would definitely stay here again if we were going to holiday in the same area.

Mi è piaciuto Had everything we needed for what we wanted - a quiet place to stay overnight for four consecutive nights, get washed and have our own breakfast. Could park right next to the camping pod. Shower/toilet block was brand new and very close to the pods. The Derwen camping pod was big enough for the three of us, but if we come again I’d probably book one of the other two pods as they’re slightly larger. Location was convenient for exploring this part of Wales by car, not too far off the A40. Whilst staying here we visited Cardigan, Poppit Sands beach, St Davids, Porthclais, Whitesands beach, Abercastle, Llawhaden castle, Narberth, various stone circles and cromlechs in the Preseli Hills, Skomer island and Broad Haven beach. All within about 30-45 mins from the campsite. If you need to stock up Narberth is a short drive away, but if you want the bigger shops and a bigger range of shops, Haverfordwest is best, about half an hour’s drive to the west. Owners were friendly and after checking in left us to get on with things. We were there at a quiet time (just before most schools start the summer holidays), few others at the campsite until the day we left. We weren’t camping, but if you are in a tent the whole field is conveniently flat and well-mown.
