Weak showers

The area and The Castle Inn pub had really good food, friendly and helpful staff.

The facilities were inadequate and dirty. The pitch was unsafe with overhanging branches falling off trees and causing damage to tents and potential injuries to children!

Location good. Village lovely with 3 county pubs to visit. Bus to York directly outside camp. Only 2 hourly though and gets busy. Electricity cheap, card was £5 and ran fridge/ blow up bed/ charged phones etc and £3 left after 4 nights!!! Great pub with lovely food and reasonably priced. As many have said the staff are amazing and work extremely hard!!

The toilet & shower block!! Urinal in men’s broken. No plugs or soap. Shower was a push button and the floor was dirty every day that we went (4 night stay). Toilets not cleaned. Shame as would have been a nice block if clean! Our pitch was extremely small and we were virtually on top of the van next door with little room to put tent lines out. It was well under the 4x6m that we booked. I think as the site was busy we were put on the grass which would have been used as part of the caravan pitch. We were also put amongst resident caravan owners with little privacy.

Small, quiet & clean campsite with all the facilities we required - The gentleman who booked us in was extremely helpful & welcoming - I would definitely recommend this campsite

The friendly welcome.
The electric hook up charged on £5 cards was enough to power our fridge and charge our phones for the four days we were there.
The site was clean and well maintained.
A couple of long term residents were super friendly and helpful.
The outdoor washing up stations worked well.
The shower and toilet block were clean and more than adequate.
A well situated site to local areas.
Everyone on the site was respectful of being quiet in the evening.
The pub is a beautiful place to enjoy a pint or eat some good pub grub.

My only gripe would be that there could be an additional shower and toilet.

The camping area well maintained and lawned. All facilities e.g. toilets, showers,washing up area v clean. Staff v friendly and accommodating and had a lovely meal in the pub

The peaceful no frills location
Beautiful little village. Nice pub. Nice friendly locals. Welcome leaflet stated no BBQ’s but when we questioned this we were allowed our small BBQ which was a bonus. The pitches are well kept a combination of hard standing and grass. Lots of trees which some may find off putting but we liked this as it added to the ambiance of the location. Small intimate site with approximately 16 pitches in total

The toilets need a good clean. It was ok but In the ladies, One toilet didn’t flush correctly and the other toilet the seat was broken. There were only 2 toilets! Both were fixed during our 3 day stay so that was good. The men’s urinal was overflowing too so that wasn’t a pleasant experience

Also was advices that 10 for electric should just about last us three days, as we were in a tent we only used £2.30 so £7.70 left over which was none refundable and also went to £0 as we left so the next campers couldn’t use it either, I’d suggest only buy a £5 card initially at top up if needed
