Shower and toilet block impeccable even though it seemed to be in constant use. Pitches were ok, a little on the narrow side to be honest. The surrounding lake and woodland were an absolute pleasure to walk around, 51 Swans on the lake at one point. We’re bird watchers and couldn’t believe it when we saw a small flock of Gold Crest, they are absolutely beautiful little birds.

What a lovely review Bea and thank you for mentioning our lovely staff and facilities. The swans really are magnificent and quite at home on the lake with the other water birds. I'm now intrigued as to what a Gold Crest looks like and will be 'googling' them. We do have sitings of rare birds at different times of the year when the twitchers descend. We shall look forward to greeting you again.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed everything you experienced at Lakeside. If you do make it back to us please remember that, if you prefer, you can drive to Castle Howard and, for most of the year, park for free. The 'Kelly Car' can also transport guests around the grounds if mobility is a problem.
OK for a stopover and convenient for Castle Howard, clean site.

The shop has been a welcome addition to the site for homeowners and campers having both essential items and luxuries. Everything has a price label on it for the customer to see and there is another popular make of crisps which were less expensive than the artisan packet that you bought. It is nice to be able to offer a choice.

If you manage to come back in the future do consider visiting Malton, a lovely market town where you can park for free for 2 hours, or Helmsley another North Yorkshire market town. York has its own council who would prefer that visitors use the park and ride buses, hence parking in the city is expensive.
