Non mi è piaciuto: Pitch I was on was very baron with hardly any grass. Very dusty too so the tent was always dirty on the floor as it got trailed in. Also tent caked in tree sap and bird muck due to location of pitch being under trees. Didn't spoil the break though.
Hello Phil. We have had some beautiful, rain-free weeks recently haven't we but, unfortunatley, this does mean that the ground has been exceptionally dry and dusty everywhere. Now that we've had some rain this situation should improve. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It is good to hear that you will return to Lakeside.

It is a shame that your visit wasn't as you were expecting or as peaceful as you would have liked but as a very popular and lovely location we naturally have busy periods, especially some weekends through the warmer months. For the majority of the time, especially mid-week, Lakeside is a great place to chill and enjoy the surrounding countryside. Regarding the size of the camping field; it is unallocated so that guests are able to choose their pitch; many campers like to position themselves around the edge but there is still ample room in the central area of the field even when we are at our capacity.

Thank you for your review. We're pleased you liked our location and facilities. We do have a community bus which stops nearby in the tiny village of Coneysthorpe but, unfortunately, this bus only comes on a Thursday and Saturday. However, if guests are able to drive to Castle Howard they can park for free at this time of year and catch the buses to York or Malton which run regularly every day.
Lakeside, as you discovered, is not only popular with campers ; we are very lucky to share it with a wide variety of wildlife and, due to the gorgeous rural setting and the grandness of Castle Howard itself we often have film crews in the area. Do come again.
